Bedside Manhandlers

An all-time favorite director of mine, James Avalon, brings his talent to this VOD of Girlsway product, directing one okay and one outstanding vignette to the trio of segments. Bad news is that David Lord helmed the remaining one -and did a very poor job.

Starting with Lord's contribution, he achieved the near-impossible feat of presenting a lousy performance by my current favorite Adult actress, Jennifer White. She plays an uppity patient, who finally meets her match with Bella Rolland, as a tough nurse who won't take any guff from her. Bella has come to the aid of JW's regular nurse Armani Black, who complains of the verbal abuse she's had to put up with. The lesbian-threesome scene is really stupid, with Jennifer having trouble playing straight given the lousy material and direction. Even the scene's title, "Bedside Manhandlers" is ridiculous.

Avalon's okay scene is named "Revenge is Best Served Catered", a play on words for the old French expression -revenge is a dish best served cold. Story has Aria Lee sneaking in disguised as a catering employee to see bride-to-be Alexia Anders, who is her lover, marrying another (a man in fact). She succeeds in winning AA back to her and the Sapphic cause in a nicely staged scene.

But the classic here is a fantasy titled "Lucky Penny", a whimsical and romantic scene that demonstrates clearly how a talented filmmaker (Avalon) can create quality in porn on a level with the mainstream. Kenna James finds an Indian Head penny that she carries around for good luck -something I can identify with, as whenver I find a penny on the sidewalk -it used to be frequently when folks were disinterested in their pocket change before so many abandoned cash in general, I actually felt like it brought me good luck that day.

She has a terrible day, losing her job, breaking the heel on her new shoe and dumped by text message from her girlfriend, so she blames the "lucky" penny and tosses it away from her front doorway. Cue pretty little redhead Madi Collins showing up magically at her door as Penny, a sort of guardian angel who easily seduces Kenna. It's a terrific scene, well-acted and directed.
