Fans of original, off-beat comedy rejoice!
This movie was a wild ride that I won't soon forget. It's absurd, side-splittingly hilarious, and even weirdly beautiful, cinematic and profound at times. These guys clearly give no Fs. It's so refreshing and makes for a truly unique viewing experience.
Trying to avoid spoiling... But here are some highlights for me: The performances, the special effects, the animation, THE ENDING!!!
I laughed, I cried (from laughing so hard) and I questioned the meaning of my existence and the entire Universe. I LOVE this movie and can't wait for what else these guys come up with.

If Al Gore was still with us (or is he still with us? Either way) he should do a documentary on this movie because people have to know the truth - that Kid Cactus is amazing. I've never heard of these guys but What is Art is clearly a masterpiece. I've never seen sketch comedy like this before. It has hints of I Think You Should Leave and Tim & Eric, but it's also so different at the same time. I can't get enough and have already watched it twice. The rewatch value is superb.
I can't wait to see what Kid Cactus does in the future. I will definitely watch anything they make. If you're looking for a quick, hilarious, jaw dropingly surprising comedy, watch this film WHAT IS ART!

Wow. What a ride. I was completely taken off guard and not ready for what I was about to watch, but I am so happy I did! What is Art is insanely funny, weird, and does not hold back from being silly and over the top in the best way. I was skeptical at first because I had never heard of Kid Cactus, but they have made something here worth watching, if not more than once. They play with genre in such a fresh and unique way, making fun of it but paying homage to it at the same time. It's absurd, but also smart and self aware. If you like I Think You Should Leave or Monty Python, you have to check this out!
I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but BOY was I pleasantly surprised! I'm a big fan of Tim and Eric and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, and the sketches in this movie are all just as bizarre, surreal, and laugh-out-loud funny as any of my favorite sketches in either of those shows. Something that usually bums me out about sketch comedy movies is that if even one sketch or premise is off, it brings down the whole movie, but What is Art manages to serve up constant laughs, original, funny premises, and noteworthy performances that all kept me invested throughout the whole film. I'm excited to see what these filmmakers come up with next!
Kid Cactus is the comedy troupe for the Millennial generation the way Monty Python was for the Boomers. 'What is Art' is a compilation of comedy sketches by a funny and talented group of artists and I was blown away by their creativity. The sketches themselves are a mix of both absurdist humor and more traditional observational comedy. There are some truly laugh-out-loud moments, and the film never feels like it's dragging. It's funny, clever, and self-aware. If you're a fan of sketch comedy, then you'll definitely want to check this film out. If you are easily offended don't bother, but I can not wait until the next production!
