This is a 2023 movie, but what we get to see looks like some kind of amateurish, hand-held super 8 film that your own grandfather could have made in say the late 50's. Shady and shaking images, faded colors, hollow sounding dubbed speech, and abominable acting that would put high-school kids in their first school-theater try-out to shame. Was there really anyone (of sound mind, that is!) who during the production, let alone afterwards, thought that this was even remotely enjoyable?!?
The premise is apparently meant to be "The hills have eyes"-like: a group of unsuspecting people in a remote forest get cornered, tortured and horribly killed by creepy locals, who turn out to be cannibalistic. Okay, this maybe could turn into something worthwhile, with some good writing, and of course some substantial budget. But none of that here. The story is totally inane: just endless running around by the besieged victims and endless chasing by the cannibals, and sooner or later some very poorly staged killings.
The wandering group consists of total airheads, while the madcap cannibals, especially the female ones, behave like ranting hysterics, screaming and jumping up and down because of the "new fresh meat" that they are going to feast on. There's some sort of mother-cannibal who's constantly wailing in an exalted state of religious daze (I guess), and there's a monstrously fat Ork-like cannibal who wiggles around, but miraculously can outrun the young and athletic looking group-members.
Oh, and the female cast shows an ample amount of bare breasts, flaunted in our face at the weirdest moments, I guess in the hope to lure us to keep watching till the end. I sullenly did, just to heave a sigh of relief when this ordeal was over. I streamed this at Prime - someone there really should be ashamed to have let this one pass!
