I came across this movie by chance. When I was going into this film I was expecting your normal run of the mill monster movie. It was, to my surprise, a very lighthearted comedy that had me laughing throughout. It felt like this movie was ripped out of a comic strip that you would find on the shelf of a bookstore, the kind of comic strip that you would read when you were young. The effects in the cinematography were good and not over the top. The acting was spot on. This movie should be viewed by anyone looking for a movie to watch!!!!! It's good for adults and children alike with mystery, humor and monsters.
Super fun, creative and very well crafted!! Great acting, great VFX and overall a fun ride!! It has a great pace from beginning to end. The actors really sell the story, and the concept. The unique idea of how dark and the overall look of The Counselor was very intriguing and unique. I must say I did really enjoy also the great performances and especially of my good friend James. His gestures, body movements and overall demeanor in his role as The Counselor was very effective. I also must admit that the VFX on the movie was very cool and awesome! Very well crafted! This movie is certainly one to watch! Highly recommended!!
Who among us has not at some point been frustrated by an overly zealous safety regulation or product safety feature? Draculaw takes this experience that we've all had and turns it into fuel for comedy. It turns out the driving force behind all those overweening rules and regulations is one particular lawyer. A lawyer who is not quite human.
We all know that vampires drink blood, but this lawyer - the Counselor - is a bloodsucker of a different type. Much like a psychic vampire (and we meet one of those, too) the Counselor draws his sustenance from draining your money and time. As you can see, the metaphor of the lawyer as vampire really isn't too much of a stretch.
Not all lawyers are evil, though. Pitted against the devilish Counselor is a lawyer who is rather heavy-handedly named Arc Gabriel. Unlike the lawyers and legislators who enact laws that seem to be intended to help people but which have costs that outweigh any real benefits, Arc really does want to help. The battle between Arc and the Counselor plays out in court with lots of clever twists.
Draculaw is a low-budget indie film, but the producers have clearly put a lot of time and effort into making it. The actors are all top notch, the location scenes add to the authenticity, and the writing and directing by Scott Deschaine is always admirably clear and direct. A number of clever sight gags add to the fun. The visual effects aren't Hollywood quality, but they are excellent for a low-budget film, and the foley work is outstanding by anyone's standards.
If you enjoy comedy-infused horror, you're bound to like this little jewel. Stick around though the closing credits and music for a funny stinger at the end.

Draculaw won Best Feature Film at our festival, The Strange Days Horror Fest, and for good reason! A very well written and paced film with heart and creativity to spare! Excellent performances from everyone involved, with a special shoutout to James Donahue and his extremely entertaining portrayal of "The Counselor" as well as the rest of the cast; Joshua Greene, Sarah Lynn Dewey, Gerri Weagraff, Bessie Amato and Robert Feldman all turn in very fun performances to watch! Scott Deschaine has done a tremendous job as the writer and director of this project, and should be proud of the finished product! Draculaw is a fantastic film, and we recommend it to any fan of independent cinema!
An absolute blast! The After FX alone are worth the price of admission, but Draculaw delivers on multiple levels. There are Emotional Vampires, there are Blood-Sucking vampires, and then, there is...."The Counselor," who feeds on people's "time." There is also a nostalgic 1980's feel to the piece, which is always welcome with those of us old enough to remember the good ole days haha. Fun is missing in so many of today's films, and Draculaw brings it back with a vengeance. Great cinematography, editing, production design, and overall production value, on a budget. Actual lawyers will be squirming in their seats, as "The Counselor" cruises through his state-appointed attorney's, until he meets his match! Call 1-800-Draculaw for your free consultation today!
