As we begin to edge our way toward Oscars season, so, too, will our anticipation for the upcoming contenders increase. But to figure out who might get nominated in the near future, we need to look back into the past. We’re going to do that for all four acting categories, starting here with Best Supporting Actress. Regina is a 2023 Tamil-language crime thriller film directed by Domin D. Silva and produced by Sathish Nair under the banner of Yellow Bear Production. The film stars Sunainaa in the lead role, along with Ananth, Bava Chelladurai, Gajaraj, Sai Dheena, Ritu Manthra, Nivas Adhithan, Vivek Prasanna and Ajeesh Jose in supporting roles. The film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video1and has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

The film revolves around Regina, a woman who seeks revenge against the robbers who killed her husband during a bank heist. She learns that the leader of the gang is Julie’s husband, who runs a restaurant in Kerala. Regina befriends Julie and infiltrates her life, while plotting to eliminate the culprits one by one. However, things get complicated when Regina develops feelings for Julie and faces unexpected challenges.

The Tamil film industry is a vast space where viewers are introduced to a plethora of good, bad, and obscure films. By obscure films one could mean the stories actually have no angle to it because there is no narrative as such. Regina, sadly, is one such movie. This 2023 Tamil language film is written and directed by Domin D’Silva and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

This fast-paced movie begins with a man being kidnapped from his home and a bunch of men branding his forehead with the word Regina. This seems like a case of vigilante justice against the captive man. He seems like someone with means who is corrupt, and by the looks of it, he was involved in a crime, which made him the target. It’s not clear whether the man was killed or abandoned with serious injuries.
