It starts well, giving you the impression of a comedy, with the cast and a few scenes, but... that's about it. Bo Ah plays very well, as do the actors in the secondary roles, the classic scenes of the Korean romcom. That's what saves a ridiculous scenario a little, if it weren't annoyingly weak. Kim Ro Woon has a poorly written role, the garish make-up and exaggerated gestures accentuate the contrast with the rest of the characters, showing how weak the direction is. The story can be summed up as a mixture of the theme of reincarnation with that of the working girl and "the cold rich man, the bad, scheming and rich girlfriend" heavily injected with excessive alcohol consumption. Hope died and I stopped at the terrible episode 10.
Kim Ra Woon makes this series with not only his handsomeness but his good vibes and brings romance and happiness to the drama. The FL seems to have decent chemistry in her role as well. A reincarnation themed fantasy where they have had a 300 year relationship includes some historical scenes and great costuming into the drama. The side story of the co- worker downstairs was good as well as the mayors daughter to bring in tension to the love story is good but not so sure about the comedic older couple side story. Great ending and glad they spent enough time on it. Romantic and happy brought by the ML.
There are some issues as others point out more eloquently with the filming and the plot/continuity being a bit all over the place, but at the same time the drama is really enjoyable and has lots of nice scenes, be it funny, romantic or just beautiful. The interaction between the leads is good, it's like they have they own funny (bickering) language, and also FL is a great ar counteracting the ML in a way that it is clear that she cares for him but not is also not a pushover, makes him go through a character development. By contrast it can then seem that the FL is not going through as much character development but I think she is getting more mature in love too.
Like soap operas from my college days, this story had all the elements. A face slapped. Dramatic rescue. A cat fight between two women. Love and people are messy. General Hospital worthy entertainment. Lead characters have great chemistry. Would love to see more stories portrayed by them. Scenes meant to be funny are funny. Scenes meant to be dramatic are dramatic. Subtitles in English were spot on. Really sparked my interest in learning the Korean language. Soundtrack was good. Added Mamamoo song 'Hip' to my playlist. I don't watch reality shows so thank you for creating a binge worthy series.
Brilliant drama with great acting all around. The red hand sequence is truly scary and Rowoon did a marvelous job portraying a man who is cursed. The cinematography and directing and the OST at the end of Episode 1 are all exceptionally made. The bickering between the main leads are funny. I think all cast come with great chemistry. Boah and Rowoon showed how comfortable they were on sets, and this translates into their acting. So far we only have two episodes. The ending of episode 2 shows how Rowoon is a great actor. The boy delivers in his acting time and time again. This time he showed more maturity and excellence. He is meant for great heights! Congratulations to the team. DWY is number 1 in 15 countries just with 1 episode airing on Netflix. That's a tremondous feat.
