Astonishingly bad given this day and age.

It amazes me that some movies get past script approval, Cellphone sadly is another such example.

It's not as if this story hasn't been told many times before, it has, and in many better ways but this boring, repetitive and unfortunately poorly acted waste of time needs avoiding at all costs.

I can't be bothered with explaining the story because it's so puerile it's not worth the effort.

My only hope is that my review might stop one unfortunately cinema goer or indeed anyone from wasting their time and money on this insult to cinema, don't even be tempted, I have wasted my time and money for you and you're most welcome, just trust me.

Remember when you were choosing which movie to go and watch and it was between Cellphone and "A N other" movie - choose the other one, wish I had.

    Negative 3 Stars

Despite an intriguing premise, the execution of "Cellphone" leaves much to be desired, making it one of the more disappointing releases of the year.

First and foremost, the dialogue is abysmal. Characters deliver lines that range from cringe-worthy to downright laughable, undermining any sense of tension or fear the movie attempts to build. The monologues, in particular, are a major low point-rambling and incoherent, they add nothing to the plot and serve only to confuse the audience.

The acting is another significant issue. The cast's performances are uniformly weak, with most scenes feeling forced and unnatural. It's difficult to invest in characters who seem equally bewildered by their own motivations and actions.

As for the story, it is dry and lacks any real substance. The plot meanders without purpose, presenting a series of disconnected events that fail to coalesce into a cohesive narrative. By the time the credits roll, the audience is left with more questions than answers, and not in a way that suggests depth or intrigue. Instead, it feels like a collection of half-baked ideas that never fully develop.

"Cellphone" struggles to deliver on its horror promises. The suspense is minimal, and the scares are predictable and unoriginal. The movie ultimately suffers from an empty plot that fails to engage or thrill, making it a forgettable entry in the horror genre.

In summary, "Cellphone" is a film best avoided. With its dreadful dialogue, pitiful acting, and a story that offers little to no substance, it leaves viewers disappointed and unsatisfied. It's a missed opportunity that squanders any potential it might have had.

    Dumb, boring, and annoying.

I kept waiting for the spooky to happen. Malcolm McDowell being in it, even as just a voice actor, had me kind of excited and hopeful. Unfortunately, it was a mess of unnatural dialogue, slow pacing, and an inexplicable plot. It was well shot, and the acting was fine given the terrible script. But that's the only reason it got two stars. The movie kept building up to build up the buildup, and in the last like, 5 minutes, everything pops off kind of, but doesn't really make any sense. Next thing you know... SPLAT! POOF! It's over. No explanation. Nothing in the buildup to extrapolate an explanation. Just a nothing burger.

So bad. Just so terribly bad.

I had such high hopes for this movie. Seemed like it might be a little different from the norm. But the longer I watched it the worse it just kept getting. The acting was not great. The scenes with her dead fiance had nothing to do with anything. All in all this movie was a complete mess. Then we got to the end and it was just ridiculous. Nothing tied together or made any sense at all. The cellphone? It never explained why that was so important. Perhaps just to have a way of "Bob" , Malcolm McDowell 's part to be able to call in and there was a big name attached to the movie? Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time.

Simply not worth the time of day...

Stumbling upon this 2024 movie titled "Cellphone" by random luck, I opted to sit down and watch it on account of it being a movie that I had never seen, nor actually heard about. And with it being a horror movie of sorts, of course I needed no persuasion to sit down and check out what director Luke Sommer and writer Rachel Sommer had to offer.

The storyline was somewhat of a swing and a miss. THere wasn't a whole lot of anything interesting happening, and sitting around watching the lives of Wynne (played by Whitney Rose Pynn) and Chris (played by Justin Malik Jackson) just didn't really make for an overly interesting narrative.

It was a relatively small cast ensemble in the movie, and I was only familiar with Malcolm McDowell. The acting performances in the movie were actually fair, despite the fact that the script was a dumpster fire.

I managed to suffer through a gutwretching 45 minutes of absolute boredom before I tossed the towel in the ring. This movie took forever to go nowhere. I am not kidding here, nothing happened in those long, oh so very long, 45 minutes that I suffered through. And believe you me, I am never returning to attempt finish watching "Cellphone".

This movie was a swing and a miss. And there wasn't an ounce of horror in it to be seen throughout the 45 minutes I endured. Well, unless you consider absolutely nothing happening on the screen as horror, if so, then you're in for quite a treat.

My rating of director Luke Sommer's 2024 movie "Cellphone" lands on a one out of ten stars.
