After paying his debt to society and determined to make a fresh start, JOHN BARKER is released on parole. He moves to the country to live with his ailing grandfather and faithful blue heeler Fudge, and as part of his parole begins a new job as a labourer. Bullied and provoked by his antagonistic boss, John escapes into the study of his family's ancestral history and the restoration of an old wooden sail boat. He soon realises that he must find a way to break the chain of an inherited rage before the cycle of violence and tragedy continues.
