Drink It Down

The sun rises on the castle. The night guard is exhausted. Even the cannon droops. The soldiers who have been sleeping throughout the night can't get up. Fortunateley, the doctor knows what's wrong with them: they need Horlick's Malted Milk!

This is the first of several stop-motion advertising films that George Pal made for Horlicks, and it fine and funny. Willis O'Brien's stop-motion work tried to make things look real, as would Ray Harryhausen's. Pal had a thorough cartoonish sensibility to his work. Why go through all that work to make something you could make with live actors? And so this is very funny.
