"The Journey to You" is a refreshing blend of espionage thrill and personal journey. Yun Wei Shan is not your typical spy - she's layered, filled with complexities, and yearns for a life beyond deceit and disguises. Her infiltration into the Gong residence is a mix of suspense and profound character development.
The house itself, with its secrets and dangers, is brilliantly portrayed. Gong Zi Yu, the rebellious nobleman, brings in a fresh dynamic. Their relationship, though starting on rocky grounds, evolves into one of the series' strongest points. The narrative is mostly tight, though some episodes feel stretched.
The cast performs admirably, with the leads showing a wide range of emotions. While some secondary characters feel underutilized, the main storyline keeps the viewers invested.
Overall, "The Journey to You" is a recommended watch for those who want a drama that offers more than just romance and action. It's about growth, discovery, and the choices we make in the face of adversity.

I do love the director's works, and this My Journey To You seems to be more in line with the current aesthetic than the ones made a few years ago. Not only are the male characters very handsome, but the female characters are also pretty and bravr. The director Guo Xiaosheng is good at capturing the emotions between two people, whether it's love or affection, and it always gives me a deep feeling. Whether it's the main characters, or the minor characters, they all have their own stories and I felt the whole story line is rich. And some of the scenery in the show is so incredibly beautiful that it could even stand alone as a landscape movie. Really enjoy watching it.
This is a remarkable original story with a superb quality production. It was spectacularly well made.
A work of art, literally. The sceneries, backgrounds customs, music, fight choreographies.... Everything about this drama speaks quality.
The script is fantastic and the dialogues are tell you just enough. This is the kind of series where you cant event trust what you see, because you never know if what you are seeing is the full picture or just part of it. The art of deception.
At some point You will think you have everything figured out and that there's holes in the plot and how the characters are so dumb to have let the villains deceived them for so long.... and them the plot twist comes!
I honestly didn't expect those turns of events at all.
The weakest part about the drama was unfortunately the main leads.
I was looking forward to finally watch Ester Yu in a drama where she wasn't just winning and talking like a 3 year old baby the whole time ( she has only dramas like that) but to my disappointment playing this character she had one expression the whole time. It was extremely monotonous to watch. You didn't feel a difference between her scenes at all. I could not perceive any emotions from her.
My favorite character was without a doubt the elder sister Zi Yu, played by Jolin Jin, what a performance, she literally lighted up the screen everytime she was on. What a personality.
And the second male lead and second female lead ( Lu Yu Xiao and Ryan Cheng) stole the show with their chemistry, gazes and interactions, it was very powerful to watch.
Many people are upset about the ending, and if we are being honest they could have continued for a few more episodes and gave us proper closure, BUT, to me what they told us in that ending is clear and makes sense, so im satisfied with it.
Amazing series, go watch this jewel.

Totally worth the watch! I am surprised how little I've never heard of this drama until I watched it.
The plot is innovative, the romance is subtle and without the standardly overused c-drama tropes; and due to the censorship in China it is, of course not physically explicit.
It has impressive acting, leads and supporting roles included. The fights scenes are well-balanced, eloquent, and entertaining. Great overall visuals and cinematography.
I do have an issue with the ending, which is too open-ended and unsatisfactory. I believe the characters and storyline deserved a better ending, and there is currently no season 2 planned or even being whispered about.
Other then that - a great piece!

Great story, and really stunning cinematography / photography, color grading team did a very good job. I am really impressed with the location scenery and wardrobe. Also the fighting scenes are absolutely amazing with excellent use of slow motion, as expected from a Chinese Action series. The actors are giving their best to an already interesting script. I like everything about this series, the twists, drama, love and betrayal, so many changes in the story and surprises. Although it's fiction, there are so many true elements, like for example the fact that the villains are a lot stronger than the heroes, but their downfall is the friction between them. Unlike the hollywood stories that the good guys are always better.
