Broken Innocence

This was well directed and the cast is superb. The story is about a 15 year old girl going through years of abuse, rape and mentally traumatized. Personally I'm not a huge fan of thrillers but to me, this one stuck out. As a parent myself, some scenes are hard to stomach but definitely takes you through what she has experienced and watching her decipher what is right from wrong. It makes it hard for me to watch movies such as this one when we all know that this is the kind of stuff that is really going on today. But, if you're looking for a decent film to watch on abuse and murder, look no further.

This movie had every right to be successful with it's story. The acting does it's job, there are some scenes of people trying to hard, however it's the technical issues that took me out of the film. Some editing choices were off putting such as an early scene with two girls sitting by a brick wall, it would have been more interesting to stay on them while you have both of their faces in the frame. Another one involves one character tossing another character car keys, you see the toss out of frame and the other character in another shot waiting, the editing would have been a lot better had they cut out just a few frames. Some shots could have been color corrected, certain shots were too bright.

The story is important and unfortunately still relevant.

1. The scene at the very beginning where Lilly is sitting outside the ambulance and the emergency vehicle lights are flashing on her... reminded me of the part in Fatal Attraction where Glenn Close is sitting in the dark and she's clicking the lamp light on and off. Fantastic imagery.

2. The "127 times" part with Lilly on the couch is absolutely heartbreaking. She made me feel it.

3. The end with Lilly & her mother telling her she's gonna do what she's never done before... what a mother is supposed to do for her children. Nail on the head!

This film isn't perfect by any means, but just these three parts made it worth watching, in my opinion.

How this movie scored so many high reviews is beyond me. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life and I've seen a lot! It's very clearly low budget, which isn't a problem as I've watched a few low budget movies and a lot of them have been good, but this is bad because it's all over the place, the acting is absolutely horrendous. I cringed many times. It covers a very sensitive topic and thankfully doesn't show too much. But that's the only thing they got right in my opinion. The sound is also not great quality. I didn't choose to watch this movie, it came on automatically after a movie I was watching ended. I wouldn't have chosen to watch it, but I gave it a chance. I was that surprised it had so many good reviews that I had to double check I was on the right imdb page for the right movie. That says it all really.

A Chase Dudley (2024) Suspense and Thriller. What I see, something of multiple storylines, I truly believe it has a meaning behind it.lillian should be in a scream film.

A solid seven.

I love those shots of day to night, kinda like The lost Boys.

I'll give the film a strong 7.
