Everybody has an opinion on May. She's popular. So she engenders either envy or desire, mostly. She gets all this attention and people are resentful. They lash out. Or they want a piece of her. And when they don't get it they act out in various ways. And as the comments or the testimonials show teens have no filter. Some of them no shame. Their brains are still growing. Some will learn to cope with or suppress these frustrations. Others never learn.

I think it's a very well made short that perfectly illustrates this phenomenon. Honestly, I don't know how May is even able to cope with all of this. At a larger scale it's what's happening to Asian idols and their fanbase and competing fanbases. Same thing only even more toxic since it's multiplied.
