Disappointed Me
This anime feels like a marketing trailer pretending to be a series.
It rushes every arc, cuts out the emotional core, and leaves characters as empty cameos. The production is average, and the storytelling has no weight. Fans waited years for this, and got a speedrun summary instead of an actual adaptation.
It looks like Disney wanted quick content, not quality.

LOVE IT<333
I got into the fandom and started playing the game in 2023, then I moved to the manga when I found out abt its existence. The first episode was amazing, I love the new scenes of each of the cast interacting and having their own voicelines (rip ortho). It also captured the absolute chaos that went down in the prologue scene, pure comedy. RIDDLE MY ANGRY BOY<3.
Amazing anime!
I love that you can instantly tell which reviews are from long-term fans and which are from people who only bothered to see one episode before they had their judgement ready. "False marketing." "Not based on Disney villains at all." "Overly feminine" (Leona, Jack, Malleus and 15 other students have left the chat.)
A story develops overtime. Some things are clouded in mystery that need to be unraveled as the story progresses. It isn't spoon-fed to you in the first two episodes what's gonna happen. Characters have stories that have yet to be told, which will explain a whole lot about why they are the way they are. How can you possibly say they're not based on Disney villains when you didn't bother to actually follow the story by waiting for a few more episodes?
People have become so ridiculously impatient. If it isn't clear who is who and why they act a certain way right off the bat, they lose interest and start blaming the producers for false advertising. My advice? The first season is only eight episodes; watch them if you're genuinely interested. So many things will start to make sense. It's genuinely a good anime IF this is your thing, but all this undeserved criticism is totally uncalled for and much of it is just factually untrue. There's having an opinion on something, and then there's just spreading misinformation.

Honest Review
As a fan of TWST who knows the entire plot line and story, yes I do love it. Many new watchers may not like the show, which I wholeheartedly understand. Honestly, I do believe that this would seem a little off without any context. I for one know what's to come and I know that, contrary to popular belief, it IS related to the Disney Villains. It's unfair for people to say it's not related at all when they've only seen the episode and trailer. In my opinion, the background animation is a little lazy, but the character designs are great. I love it, but I understand where the bad reviews are coming from.
SUGGESTION: I HIGHLY recommend watching in sub version (Japanese). The voice acting is much better there and they use the canonical VAs from the game!
*EDIT* After viewing other reviews, I think it would be fair to add that it feels rushed, especially after Ep.2. Keep in mind that I probably have a subconscious bias towards this anime because I have been waiting so long. They cut out some stuff that I think they should have left in. I mean, for 3 years of work, I expected more. Overall I still like the show and will keep watching.

ITS FINALLY HERE!
I was so excited for this anime as a fan of the mobile game for years! The animation is crisp and it does a great job of introducing its characters, as the anime will only focus on a few per season, it helps establish their basic quirks before their own season. Voice acting in both the dub and original are stellar, and everyone working on the project did a great job! So far, no sign of butchering the original story, and I really hope it stays that way!
Did you know
- TriviaThe trailer implies that the anime will follow the manga idea of different timelines; where each one had a different Yuu. The trailer shows the Yuu who practices kendo specifically from the Heartsybul arc.
