I always tune into these shows with the expectation that the participants will be brave and resourceful. Instead, they are all whining about no food, no water and no shelter. And the bickering makes me fast forward too much to want to finish the season. Didn't they know before going in, that life would be hard? I can't say that they are in literal danger when there is a medic and camera crew following them everywhere. The idea of being on a deserted appeals to me for some reason which is why I tuned in, but I'd really like to see people who are more up for the challenge. And better able to carry out the challenge.
We absolutely love naked and afraid, and can't get enough of their regular season, XL, and really any spinoffs. There is something so cool about watching people trying to survive in environments that no human being should want to try to go to. This show delivers on par with the rest with a great cast utilizing a newer generation of survivalists. I love the idea of no tools, you got to work with what you find. I think this is a little more realistic of a situation than someone being stranded but they have a machete, firestarter, etc... If you are a survivalist you got to try and survive with your hands and what you can forage.
We aren't finished with the season yet but am quite pleased and exited to see how it all ends. Would certainly watch more seasons with similar rules, etc.. and really am just adding this to the list of potential naked and afraid spin offs to keep an eye out for moving forward.
A+

Yeah, each group happens across a novel item to start a fire with and a different wrecked vehicle to scrap for parts.
One gets a lens, one gets a mirror, one gets a broken lighter. Come on. Rather than pretend that this is all by chance which only demonstrates a contempt for your audience, you should be honest and just openly give them these items, or say that you've placed these items around their camps to find.
There is a lot of nonsense in Naked and Afraid but until now it has always been questionable how far they go. It's obvious that everyone always gets fed on the days before extraction. Obviously these creatures are placed down and survivors are directed to them or given hints.. but this show goes beyond that to straight-up insulting.
Glad to see the barehanded killer though.
Episode 3 edit: My goodness.. The group that is struggling the most just randomly happened to find a machete under some junk scrap metal. You've got to be kidding me. What are you doing, Naked and Afraid? Totally undermining your legitimacy.
You're even undermining survival. Naive city-dwellers might believe that they will find everything they need randomly lying about out in the wilderness. You are totally implicitly and dangerously misinforming these people. Why can't you just stick to the rules?

The episode where the pelican came to them for help and they killed him was an issue for me. I understand it is a suvival issue, but they werent' that far into the competition to be starving and he came to them with trust for help and they held him captive until it was conveniient to "put him out of his misery". I understand hunting and survival, but had to turn the episode off I found it offensive. If they didn't want to assist him with his wing, they should have let nature take its course. Maybe not practical, but it broke my heart. Killing is not in my wheel house, but I will kill for food if necessary, I just can't take advantage of a helpless animal that comes to me for help.
PLease don't show this kind of situation again, I can't handle it. If they had hunted and took him down, so be it, this was very uncomfortable. Done with the show, and I'm a naked and afraid fan.

I've been applying for a spot on Naked and Afraid for over a year and a half now with no response,me as a Huge Super Fan and I know I speak for others that were tired of watching the same people getting to compete again and again like Matt and Gary and Jeff just to name a few. When people like myself are just itching to be given a chance to try and survive. Im.61 yrs old and still have alot to give, from the coast of Maine where the weather changes on a daily basis all I'm saying is give some of us Newbies a SHOT at Fame and Fortune to prove to our selves we have what it takes to be NAKED AND AFRAID!!!
