A lovingly made documentary that is as informative as it is charming

If you're Sri Lankan, you've probably heard of Geoffrey Bawa, a fellow Sri Lankan architect considered to be one of the greatest in the world. But for those of us who aren't architects, we don't really know what about his works make him as famous as he is.

Well, The Genius of the Place is a documentary made exactly for that, to inform us as to why the architectural world looks up to him and holds him in such high regard. It's a beautiful showcase of Bawa's work, introducing him to the wider public; not only as a renowned architect, but as a visionary and also a sculptor who sculpts in time. Beautifully made and communicated.
