A microfilm that is a contemporary re imagination of a little incident from the Mahabharata. When King Shantanu expresses interest in marrying Goddess Ganga, she agrees on the condition that he would never question her actions. Unaware of the full extent of what he is getting himself into, King Shantanu promises and marries Ganga. Upon the birth of their first child, Ganga takes the baby to River Ganga and flings it to its death, returning smiling to her husband. Having promised to not question her, he remains silent. Six more babies meet similar fate. On the birth of the eighth child, Shantanu - unable to hold himself any longer - stops Ganga, questioning her actions. Ganga reminds him of his promise, agrees to bring up the child, but on her own, and leaves Shantanu. 'The Eighth' re imagines the separation episode between Ganga and Shantanu in a contemporary setting.
