Meet the Leroys

Writer/director Florent Bernard watched a lot of movies about parents splitting up, and realized they were either comedies or dramas, with very few in between. Also, it was always shown from the parents' perspective, and never the children's, so he wanted to tackle this topic by making a bittersweet comedy, with nostalgia and funny scenes, while fully including the kids in the story.

During the breakfast scene early in the movie, Sandrine's children are looking down at their cereal bowl in front of them in one shot, then suddenly at their mother, located on the side, in the next shot.
