One Scene is Awesome but the Rest is Pretty Cringe

Alright let's review the next installment of this discount store CW series milking The Boys IP for every fraction of a cent they can squeeze out of it until there's nothing but a dried up husk of a cool comic book. So when we left off, ah, who cares? The story is so all-over-the-place, just assume anyone can do anything, and anything can be ret-conned at any time. That's the level of laziness the writers are at. If you're ever unsure what's going on just remember: Diverse casting good, white guy bad. This show is a perfect example of something that's a "product of its time", and while it certainly won't be remembered by future generations, when future generations look back and laugh at something because "OMG that's SO Covid-era!" it will be when witnessing something as cliche as this show.

Watching the recap is like a blooper reel. How did I give this 4 stars?

Almost saw boobs for a second. I'm still trying to figure out who this show is made for. Is it made for college students? College students who did not grow up inundated with superhero movies? At its core it's a teen drama, an NC-17 teen drama.

The acting is exceptionally bad in this episode. The jokes are cringe. I keep forgetting how stupid the underlying premise of the school is, in that the students are trying to improve their social media scores, but every 15 minutes someone will make a hastily tacked on reference to their followers or Q score or something.

And then completely out of left field comes the Sam scene and it's a good show. That was totally awesome. For two minutes they put something genuinely creative to film and had competent people working on it.

But then it's back to the teen drama and talking about feelings. There's a lot of mind R'ing going on in this episode (their word not mine). At this point no one is responsible for their actions and since shape changing is a power literally anyone can be anyone.

It's weird how the references to The Boys universe feel pandering. As with the premise of the school, it's for the most part forgettable but then they remind you every 15 minutes with a random tacked-on reference.

This is a difficult episode to score because 95% of it was pure trash, but the Sam scene was so genuinely awesome and creative, and his storyline is compelling so I want to see where that goes. I can't believe it, but I give this a 5/10.

    Waist of time

Most characters are boring. You can see the difference between this and the boys. Were this is a money grab focusing on powers the boys focuses on interresting characters and super powers second. Also this has a heavely political agenda for some reason. Maybe im just really dissapointed because the Boys comics and story are awesome and i wanted to see more but instead they made .... this. The powers arent interesting and the only good part so far was tek night. I dont think i will be watching the rest because every episode i go in hoping it will be good but then it will just let you down. Its a real shame.

    Filler?

Could this be considered filler 5 episodes into the first season? Felt like nothing happened and we're back where we were last episode. Still a decent episode I'm enjoying the show so far, but it just feels a bit like nothing of much importance really happened this episode and it really slowed the pace down. Main stand outs for me this episode were Emma and Cate as these are the only characters who got much development as the rest of the cast weren't given too much to do. There were a couple reveals but was a bit too uneventful compared to the first 4 episodes in my opinion. Also didn't see any Clancy Brown in this one which is always a shame (may be wrong).

GOOD EPISODE BUT STARTING TO FEEL AS LOST AS THE CHARACTERS

This episode started of very strangely, if your watching this with your parents good luck 😅😅

Throughout this episode we explore further into the memory wipes some explained well through interactions but others left me confused and lost as to what is happening.

The twist in this episode is a questionable one to say the least, I sometimes find it difficult to process the the real enemy when they are introduced with no Alabi. This episode and the past series I have to put Emma at the top ranking as she is the most interesting character

Although this episode was good I feel there was a lot left to be desired hopefully the next episode there is a more in-depth explanation for the reasonings of our new villian

Thank you for taking time to read my review till the next one.....

Get some puppets and... wow, violence...

I like Gen V, after the third episode I was really excited to continue the story (and I'm following it weekly) I liked this episode, even if the idea of making the story go in circles just to get a revelation at the end bothers me a little, but what bothered me most about this whole equation is something that bothers me a lot about managing this universe: "how to make a story adult? Let's be disruptive, take some childish things like puppets and make a brutal fight sequence"... Wow, violence... This isn't the first time this has happened in the Voughtverse, we had a similar sequence with Black Noir in S3 (referenced in this episode), and in the previous episode there was that strange sequence with the guy talking to the puppet from The Deep, like... what's the fun in all this? What's the purpose? Shock? Be disruptive? Adult? For me it doesn't work.
