After a somewhat slow start to the season, the boys picks up with one of the best episodes to date. Nearly every character is given their own time to shine, each in their own unique plot lines. Even though the show is splitting its attention between nearly 15 characters, the pacing is absolutely immaculate! Nothing feels rushed whatsoever, and the episode is not afraid to take its time for certain scenes. Every plotline is simply fantastic this episode. Homelander has one of his best episodes ever, Butcher is excellent as always, Hughie and Kimiko have an amazing team up, Starlight and Firecracker's beef escalates to an insane degree, Frenchie has an excellent conclusion to his plotline this season, and even characters like Ashley, A-Train, and the Deep get their time to shine. The episode is also filled with absolutely wild twists in it that could potentially change everything for the boys. It is absolutely an episode that will keep you glued to your seat. Diabolical!
After a pretty mediocre start, episode 4 completely demolished the first 3. Homelander stole the show, thanks to Antony Starr's Emmy level performance. So many characters face their past in this episode, Frenchie, Kimiko, Hughie, Annie, A-Train and Homelander. It really makes you connect with these characters and the troubles they faced in their past. The writers beautifully tied in all these storylines into one hour of pure mayhem and fun. Episode 4 set up plenty more in the upcoming episodes, which I am sure will be just as good as this one. In my opinion, this is a top 3 episode of the Boys, and rightfully so.
Probably the best episode I've seen of the boys yet. Fantastically acted, Homelander is terrifying, and the emotion was spot on. Absolutely just phenomenal episode. The whole plot with starlight was very well done and knew exactly how to deliver a gut punch. I saw some similarity to one episode of the boys diabolical and I won't spoil which but it was kind of cool to see it done in the main show. Gory, insane, and ridiculous in every way possible. This is what the boys is to me, this is when the show peaks. I hope the show continues down this path of episodes like these because they are fantastic.
The tension wow Antony Starr has to be one of the most incredible actors I have ever seen. Regardless if you like the episode or even the show you can't deny it. Every time Homelander is on the screen automatically you become nervous because you genuinely don't know what he's going to do. The ability for him to shift tones from being playful to serious to evil is unbelievable. I love even the side plots with Hughie, A train, Butcher and starlight. I think the frenchie plot is alright I do think there's a bit too much going on right now and out of all the plots I think it's the most unnecessary, however it still is good. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because there has been better episodes on the Boys but the episode was amazing!
Hard to put into words how good a TV show is when it reaches that pivotal moment when all comes together to make for a truly ecstatic moment of TV. This episode not only had it all but was able to push the storytelling and deliver so many satisfying moments while keeping us truly on the edge of our seats. So gratifying to see writers who have just got everything right and gave the whole cast moments where each get to shine and leave us heartbroken.
The atmosphere shifted so many times from the intimate to the spectacle, there isn't a scene to waste. Awesomely inspired.
Well done and thank you!!!

- GoofsIt makes no sense for Ashley Barrett to leave a floater in Homelander's bathroom. He is so extremely petty she could not put it past him to have the fecal DNA analyzed in order to find out who did it.
