The brombies/bread zombies/bread monsters are comprised of a combination of people in costumes and small sculptures that have been green-screened, as well as some actual bread products that were given googly eyes and green-screened. The green screen bread monsters are then edited into each scene frame by frame. These sequences sometimes have over 30 layers of video in the editing sequences.
Bread by Dawn originally began filming in 2021, and production has been stopped multiple times for varying reasons. While it is a non-union film with no dreams or plans of becoming anything other than a small indie production, production was temporarily stopped during the strikes as a quiet act of solidarity and respect for the hard-working union professionals whose combined labor has provided every member of the production entertainment, comfort, or distraction during dark days.
