    Absolutely unmissable crime suspense thriller!!

Web Series Review: Nikhoj ( Season 1&2) streaming on Hoichoi!! A treat for my Bong friends!!

Nikhoj , directed by Ayan Chakraborti is a tightly scripted crime suspense thriller which will definitely hold u in rapt attention all throughout.

The story starts off with the disappearance of Diti , the daughter of decorated police officer Brinda Das (Swastika Mukherjee) . The very next day Rohit Sen (Tota Roy Chowdhury) , a celebrated news anchor is found blood-drenched and drugged in his car right in the middle of the road. During interrogation, Brinda and her team get to know that Diti and Rohit, along with others, were partying the previous night.

Is Diti dead or alive? What exactly happened that night ? Why doesn't Rohit remember how he got in the car ? Will the perps be brought to justice ? This series, divided into 2 seasons attempts to answer all the questions.

ABT the cast- Swastika as the protagonist delivers a stellar performance which perfectly balances the emotional trauma of a mother whose only child has gone missing & her responsibility as a bad ass no nonsense cop who has to solve the case. Brilliant indeed.

Tota Roy Chowdhury as the accused/ victim too delivers a solid performance whose investigative skills are seen more in Season2 in order to prove his innocence.

Brindas face offs with her fellow pollice officer Samantha too have been very well showcased. The title track Nikhoj Tui by Rupam Islam is truely haunting and compliments the narrative perfectly!!

Overall Nikhoj is a tightly woven taut thriller with a lot of twists and turns . The climax too has been well conceived leading to a logical conclusion!!

Definitely bingewatchworthy!! Going with 4/5 for this one .. Adios🙂!!

    Takeaways from Nikhoj-2

Who doesn't like a thrilling chill? The answer is obvious. It's simply all irrespective of identify affiliations or age. But all look good on the Silver Screen or rather on Mobile Screen; catharsis indeed. After all, both revolution and evolution in the Social Media have not only broken traditional perspectives but introduced more powerful and conclusive tools which have become inseparable parts of live. This is nothing new. But important point is use of Social media in different sectors more importantly entertainment enterprise. Naturally, it includes films which has yet been the most rejoiced means of entertainment. The new age technology has impacted film making. It is not exaggerating that technology has helped Movie enterprise to survive. But this has failed to restrict the decline of playback singing; an august arena of film making in India. After all, who can forget the icons like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Rafi, Asha Bhosale and others? But this is really unfortunate that today's singers have miserably failed to preserve the unique gharana of Indian Film Music.

But in this age if a Movie or Web Series makes effort to make song relevant in a content dealing with crime, the Movie maker deserves credit. The Second Series of Bengali Crime Thriller Nikhoj-2 has made that effort. However, is it right to preceive Web Series dealing with crime and intrigues because of inclusion of a song? Certainly not. Songs are and should be second fiddle. The Web Series Nikhoj 2 has not compromised with anything related to narrate a crime thriller. The Series has every element needed to present crime and sustainement of suspense to entertain the viewers. But the most important aspect is: Nikhoj 2 narrates tender emotion and it deals with humanistic aspects as priorities. This is a tale of a helpless mother, degraded reputation of a public figure, loss of values, fragile family bonding, solitary, victim of destiny and such others. This is may be one reason the Web Series doesn't depict death after death. The murder scenes are also metaphorical and this is where the song really matters- Nikhoj Tui written, composed and performormed beautifully by Rupam Islam. The tactical use of the song in the Web Series makes the narrative more impacting. Naturally, apart from Tota Roy Chowdhury, Swastika Mukherjee, Pratik Dutta, Koneeka Banerjee, Saoli Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta and others, Rupam Islam's music plays an important role here. This is true that Rajatava Dutta is not getting roles as per his potential these days. Reason may be Rajatava has become a bit stereotypical with passing time. But the important point is proper mingling of a Crime Thriller and music making Nikhoj 2 more appealing. The song in the Crime Thriller proves one thing; there is space for payback singing even today. However the need is to compose and sing as the narrative needs. This message is larger for the today's Film Music Fraternity.

    Strongly Recommended!

Nikhonj, a captivating Bengali web series directed by Ayan Chakraborti , was released on August 11th in Hoichoi. We were fortunate enough to watch it on the day of its release, and it truly set the bar high for Bengali thrillers. From start to finish, it had the audience on the edge of their seats, with well-crafted plots and a perfect pace.

Let's talk about the performances. Swastika Mukherjee absolutely nailed it, and it was a pleasure to see her portray such a strong-willed character after such a long time. Her acting will keep you hooked until the very end.

Saoli Chattopadhyay captivates the audience with her natural and seamless acting. She effortlessly grabs your attention and leaves a lasting impression.

Although Tota Roy Chowdhury had limited screen time, he managed to make a significant impact with his performance.

Overall, Nikhonj is a series that comes highly recommended. We are eagerly awaiting the release of season 2.

A better storytelling approach in series after a long time

If somebody loves suspense and thriller after quite some time Hoichoi has delivered a well constructed story telling approach. The chaos for the first two episodes and providing small clues which has been used for the entire length of season one is a well drawn approach to keep the suspense going.

Season 1 is the build up the way it should be eagarly wiating for season 2 mainly for the sweeper ( Mohendra gupta). Being quite a avid movie and series lover of different language of a few decades. This is indeed a good watch and a well tuned and constucted story telling of suspense thriller series.

Poor acting of DCP character - Brinda Basu

Poor acting of DCP character - Brinda Basu / Swastika Mukherjee.

The acting, bold character as a DCP, her body language, responses ........ Everything is missing. Her role as a DCP didn't suit and didn't enjoy watching, felt like lot of things are missing.........like bold character, attitude, smart personality as a DCP rank. The story is good and all other actors did a wonderful job. When a single mother lost her only child daughter, it definitely freaks her out and she looses her control but don't expect from a DCP rank officer as IPS officers are trained for their emotional and physical strength. Since DCP s daughter is missing and it seems only DCP herself is concerned for her missing, what rest of all other police colleagues are doing? Didn't enjoy and didn't like the part 1 .
