In my opinion, this movie is highly overrated by all the other reviewers. And I mean all, because all of them uniformly rate it 10 stars out of 10. This alone is suspicious, as are the identically high ratings the movie receives on the website Rotten Tomatoes. I wonder whether the people who made this movie solicited and received reviews from their friends and families. There are far better comedies that do not receive such over-the-top reviews: all raves and not a hint of criticism. Yes, the movie is occasionally funny, but rarely in a laugh-out-loud way. It is a bit repetitive, to the point of being slightly boring. I did like some, but not all, of the characters. I especially liked the actors Kiran Deol and Iqbal Theba.

Advanced Chemistry is a fun comedy and a great vehicle for Samba Schutte, best known as Roach on Our Flag Means Death. Schutte played Allen, a biochemist who doesn't have much with the ladies, and so develops a drug that - with any luck - will remedy the situation.
Excellent supporting cast, including Chauntte Wayans, as Allen's bestie. Marcia, Kieran Deol, as Allen's work colleague, Lisa, and Sarah Burns, playing Marcia's wife, Sarah.
Written by Alec Moore and directed by Etana Jacobsen, Advanced Chemistry is the perfect film for a Rainey afternoon, when you just want to chill and have a relax.

All in all this film was a delight to watch. I heard about this film on the festival circuit awhile ago and was so happy when it finally came out! As a huge fan of Our Flag Means Death, this movie was the perfect vehicle for Samba Schutte to play a leading man. I also loved the LGBTQ+ themes in the movie and the clever blend of heart and wit in the writing. The film was cast really well overall and the thing that was the most fun was the science-based set up for a rom-com. Beauty and brains merged into one whip-smart comedy with a ton of great comedic set ups. Kudos to the filmmakers for pulling this off. Rent it - you will not be disappointed!

Advanced Chemistry effortlessly blends sharp humor with heartfelt moments, creating a standout film in the comedy genre. The witty dialogue and clever plot twists keep the audience engaged and entertained throughout. The story is not only hilarious but also deeply engaging, thanks to several standout performances that bring the characters to life in unique and memorable ways. The writing is top-notch, balancing laugh-out-loud moments with genuine emotion, making the film not only a source of great entertainment but also a poignant narrative. This combination of humor, emotion, and excellent performances makes Advanced Chemistry a must-watch for any comedy lover.
This movie had me laughing from beginning to end -- laughing out loud. The hapless hero, a well-intentioned young man, finds himself in progressively more catastrophic situations and needs to take ever more extreme measures to bail himself out. The foibles of modern relationships gets a good working over in the process. The screenplay snaps and pops, zipping along at a galloping pace, but always sharp and clever. The actors, all unknowns to me, are well cast and up to the task. The movie is a satirical take on research labs and modern love. I enjoyed this movie from beginning to end.
