High Speed Chase

These definitely aren't top pursuits as advertised. There are a few decent ones in the 3 episodes I made it through, but several just aren't that interesting. What ruins the series, in my opinion, is the constant cutaways from the pursuits to various officers giving a play by play about what you're watching. It's distracting and unnecessary, as you can clearly see what's happening. It got so tiring that I stopped watching the series after the third episode. That said, I don't know what genius at IMBD thought it was a great idea to set such a high limit for required characters. I have no interest in writing a lengthy review about a relatively boring program.

They drag this footage out with interminable commentaries to make it into an hour show. Do we really need them to explain what a PIT maneuver is? How many times do we have to be told that the chase is becoming dangerous and they have to end it? I will now drag out this comment in order to meet the minimum length requirements in the same way they drag out this show in order to get it to be an hour in length so they can sell more advertising time. See how boring it is? Well that it how they manage to turn high speed chases into boring, repetitive footage. Thirty-eight characters to go! Almost there. Hooray!

With all due apologies to the old Highway Patrol series with Broderick Crawford. Ok, my lovely wife found this on Discovery Plus this weekend and I knew this was going to be a binge watch and it was. I was familiar with a couple of these chases from the news. It was an adrenaline packed thrill ride from one end of the other. The B Roll is nicely done and the views of the officers are insightful although having multiple chases under my belt with a couple of thousand hours in news helicopters filming them and calling the action and location in the newsroom, I'd be willing to bet a lot of the thoughts they say were going through their heads were actually afterthoughts. Anyway if you're a true crime fan, you can't go wrong with this one. I can only hope there is a second season and if there is may I recommend a near 3 hour epic that occurred in Charlotte NC on July 7, 2022. My station had tons of exclusive video from our chopper and at one point had to monitor the chase for the local police when they had to send their helicopter back to the airport for more gas.

I have a very high respect for pretty much all law enforcement, or any first responders for that matter, and usually enjoy watching these types of videos/series. This series has some of the worst editing and over dramatization I have ever seen. As others have pointed out, in other reviews, these could be (and rightfully SHOULD be) no more than 20 - 30 minute segments.

One other MAJOR distraction is the constant narration/explanation by the officers that are virtually all the same in all episodes... completely unnecessary and way over the top.

It's sad that in todays world a series gets made that takes a critical career such as law enforcement, and makes those same law enforcement personnel look like a bunch of keystone cops. Terrible series all in all.
