Soundies came in almost every variety of popular music in the 1940s, so a certan amount of hillbilly music was inevitable. However, despite some good instrument playing, the singing of this one is just annoying.
Soundies were three-minute films intended to be played on a device called a Mills Panaram. Drop in a dime, and you got one out of ten on a reel. The reels were changed weekly, and from 1940 through 1946, Mills and other producers turned out more than two thousand of them.
