Mikhail Gorbachyov, the Soviet leader, initiates reforms aiming to revitalize the USSR. His desire for global prominence leads to perestroika, triggering the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and eventually the Soviet Union itself.

1989-1990 General Secretary of the CPSU Mikhail Gorbachyov begins global transformations in the USSR. He passionately desires to become a star of world politics and for this he is ready to go towards the West as far as he likes. But the perestroika he conceived led to fatal, irreversible consequences. First, the Warsaw bloc of socialist countries collapsed, followed by the collapse of the Soviet Union.—WINK
