Lately I have been leery of purchasing Independent Black plays and movies, but Wesley Jonathan's hunkiness and the attitude that Regan Gomez-Preston brings to her characters made me want to give it a chance. I am so glad that I did! The plot steered clear of the usual 'beat and cheat' conflict, but dealt with fresh modern issues in a way that wasn't preachy, overbearing, or cliché. It was thought provoking yet light hearted. I laughed from a good place in my gut here and there, 'awwwed' on occasion, and smiled often. It just felt good to watch. The characters and relationships were so believable that I felt like I knew these people personally. I just wanted to hug my best friend afterward. My only issue is that I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a movie, a play, or a sitcom. Although it would be awesome if I could tune in weekly for a good laugh and a smile.
