After losing her job, baker Isabel finds herself seeking adventure in a new town. When she suspects her recent thrift-store-find, a mysterious recipe book, may hold clues to its former owner's death, she sets out to crack the case.

The Recipe Files follows the newly single Isabel, who is looking for a fresh start in the small cookie-cutter town of Shady Oaks. As a baker, Isabel knows that the best recipes aren't made just from a list of ingredients, but from the heart. So, with a dash of ambition and a dollop of liquid courage, Isabel buys the recently vacated town bakery with sweet dreams of restoring the shop to its former glory. Upon discovering a mysterious old book full of handwritten recipes of unknown origin, Isabel finds inspiration and re-ignites her passion for baking. As business is booming, Isabel starts to suspect this special recipe book holds clues to its former owner's death - and finds there's more layers to this story than a devil's food cake. With the help of cautious and calculating Ben, the big city high-profile lawyer, and other newfound friends, Isabel sets out to crack the code of her first case - but will she solve it in time for the holidays, or will her efforts be a recipe for disaster?
