    Season 1

Interesting concept initially but very drawn out. A story that should take twenty minutes to tell is over that twice that due to lots of repetition. Additionally, each of the episodes pretty much tracks the same as the others. It gets old pretty quickly.

Very personal perspectives and stories of woe and triumph

I don't understand how other reviews could say that these are boring or repetitive. Each story has a unique and very personal narrative, dealing with stalkers or sick individuals with different mental illnesses or issues, with crimes ranging from physical attacks to years of drawn out mental abuse. Several stories have made me cry... If you're going to watch the show and judge solely on the reenactments then maybe you should come back when (you've grown up a bit emotionally) you're willing to watch for the actual events and not beg to be entertained over another humans harrowing experience. The stories are most certainly NOT all about helpless women, though I would agree that each case shows that the laws do not protect people enough until it is far too late, that is no surprise though as laws tend to be based around punishment, not preventative measures. My favourite story so far is about the gentleman lawyer who is still being stalked 30 odd years later, it has a pleasant ending.

    Comedy.

I've been watching true cases since the days of Rescue 911 and Unsolved Mysteries, but I have never, EVER seen such offensively bad re-enactments in my life. It truly does seem like the production were told they're filming sketch comedy scenes. The accents, the acting, the wigs, the costumes, the writing-the everything! When I say they make the most unintentionally hilarious of Tyler Perry productions seem like Oscar bait by comparison, I need you to take me at my word!

It's so disrespectful because they're telling about real people's trauma and deaths like they are segments in one of those 2000s parody films. But S2 E8 is exceptional in that it seems like the creators of Birth of a Nation were resurrected to tell the tale. You go from a talking-head segment of the real victim being somber to some very questionable re-enactment scenes.

Who thought this was a good idea, a sociopath? Whomever they are, they need therapy. You don't have to create entertainment with the re-enactments. Most viewers aren't there for that but to be INFORMED. One of the GOAT true crime shows, Forensic Files, kept the re-enactment footage to a minimum and focused on telling us what happened. They didn't focus on "actors" fighting for their life to maintain the most grating of fake accents and embarrassing themselves attempting to "act."

This is the peak example of the worst of true crime shows. Even YouTubers who put on makeup as they tell true crime stories are better than this dreck.

    Good, but...

Look, I think the show is great, and it's amazing to hear these survivors tell their own stories. That takes guts. Seriously, though - where are they interviewing these poor people? In a run-down, moldy, broken down building that looks worse than a third world prison? Please, host these survivors in a nicer location!

    March 18' 2014 show- Kathleen

Wow... This was to me the best one yet. I could feel Kathleens pain. I was stalked briefly by my ex- husband but nothing to the degree that she went through. I am sorry to say but I wanted her stalker to take his life or be taken by the police. At least it would be over forever. I feel so badly for her that she gave up so much in her life because of him. How he found her after her unsuccessful attempt to hide her whereabouts, her job, her person amazes me to what length these wackos go to. What an enormous amount of time that was lost because of him. He took so much from her! Great show. I too like the fact that the stalkee is the narrator and not some over emphasizing person retelling the story. Thats how I feel about Nightmare Next Door. I cannot abide to the narrator's voice and refuse to watch the show. I am glad Kathleen is an advocate for stalking laws. I commend her. I wish her well for her future.
