This is a fun enough concept to play along with, and we usually love Alan Carr but he does not work as the host of this. The format of the show involves contestants answering questions against the clock but Alan is not fast enough asking them / confirming they're correct etc which really slows down play and is frustrating to watch.
Also a lot of the pictures are really bad, as in it's difficult to tell what the picture is supposed to be, which again hinders contestants (or viewers) answering.
It's not awful, it's watchable, but it just doesn't sit quite right.
Not enough characters so typing this.

The slowest quiz on TV. And who keeps giving Alan Carr work? He is utterly insufferable. I'd rather watch my nan straining to park her Sunday roast. And there appear to be three people in the audience with some added canned laughter for good measure. It's even worse than Blankety Blank with Bradley Walsh! What is also apparent is that those responsible for booking the contestants clearly have a criteria: IQ's under 50. Shows a picture of Agatha Christie - "Is that Roald Dahl?" Sweet lord. I thought torture was outlawed yet this show is available to the public!! Don't watch it. Have a bag of beef monster munch instead.

.... that joke quiz show which pulled apart and made a clever joke of all that is bad about certain TV quizzes ? This show feels like the very crystalisation of that joke, or like one of Alan Partridges desperate show proposals, but a lot less funny. This has to be the dumbest and most pointless (now there's a quiz!!) quiz show I've seen. Garbage, tacky and funny for all the wrong reasons. The host has no chemistry in this show, and seems to be desperately parroting and screeching some dumb writers supposedly bright ideas for catchphrases (maybe he just needed the money - either way his enthusiasm looks very forced), the contestants seem to be pulled from a struggling part of the IQ gene pool..... really quite awful for a Saturday night show.
I've just binge-watched all eight episodes so far of Alan Carr's Picture Slam and coming from someone who, at first, didn't really think this was going to be my cup of tea at all (especially judging from the first trailer), I'm actually quite surprised by how much I really enjoyed it and would actually be looking forward to a second and third series being commissioned (that is, if the BBC have enough of the common sense in them to even do so).
I really like that the format was very easy and fun for me to personally follow (unlike that of Impossible), some of the wrong answers that were given were legitimately quite hilarious and the show does such a great job of exercising your brain whilst you're under pressure.
Plus, Alan Carr makes for a genuinely entertaining host here, bringing his trademark camp sense of humour and enthusiasm to the proceedings (and this is actually coming from someone who's not usually one of the hugest Alan Carr fans).
Overall, Alan Carr's Picture Slam is a rather surprisingly enjoyable and fun show that deserves to go on for at least two more series in my opinion.
8/10.

I've just watched all of season 2 in one sitting (9 episodes) and let me just say WOW. I got all the questions right slam after slam picture after picture. I love it when Alan says "Picture Slam" as it adds to the fast paced dynamic of the show.
My only critique is it simply isn't long enough, perhaps there could be a grand slam at the end? Think about it...
This is the perfect binge watch show, I've recommended it to my orthodontist and she loved it. Says it all really.
Can't wait to see what season 3 will bring... hopefully they make it a real board game so us dedicated "slammers" can't have a piece of the non-stop action.
Thank you BBC for a valuable and frankly irreplaceable show. Keep it coming.
