No pun intended - any movie that can be compared to the Exorcist is already in losing ground ... but if you are able to put your own spin to it (that's not a pun - so I'll allow it, the power of ... review compels me) ... and add some humor .. why not go for it? That is a rhetorical question obviously.
The acting is really good too, which of course is also needed. The main character may be morally in a grey area, but that may make the movie and him even more interesting ... I think you should be able to root for him ... it comes down to casting and who to choose for a role that is quite tough to pull off ... cinematography is really good and the editing helps the movie too. It may not reach the heights of other movies (mainly the already mentioned movie that stands above all) ... but it is a nice one to watch for sure.

Dr. Cheon is a class A scammer with his sidekick technician who creates the illusion of fact to get money from superstitious and gullible people who think he's legitimate until he faces the real thing in an evil mage who uses severed fingers to inhabit people to try and kill him because he is the grandson of a master shaman who attempted to imprison the mage in an eternal vault and failed. Dr. Cheon with his half sword goes in search of the other half and to finish the talisman that his grandfather failed and lock the evil mage up for good. Lots of great ghosts and cgi spirits, lots of excitement and fun effects as Dr. Cheon battles the many who attempt to stop him. Nothing questionable, no nudity, some extreme violence (cutting off fingers) and quite a few disturbing visages. It's in Korean so one needs the appropriate subtitles to watch effectively. Enjoy!

Although, Dr. Cheon/Talisman is rather slow to get started IMO, but when it hits its stride about halfway through, the mixture of supernatural events and headlong action is head-spinning.
Excellent performances from everyone, with a particularly terrifying performance from Huh Joon-ho as the "head demon."
Although I was not fully clued in to the Korean mythology at all times, if you just go with the supernatural flow you'll find the film a delightful mix of fantasy, swordplay, and some classic car-crashing, fist-punching action.
Special credit to director Kim Seong-sik (who one of my sources indicates was an AD on "Parasite") and editor Gang-hee Lee (and the entire production team) who really crank up the energy via practical action, crack cross-cutting, and stunning VFX.
I only hope this talented cast and crew can come back with a sequel. I'm ready for a whole series of Dr. Cheon flix.

The quality of this film was amazing. I wish I had gone to see it when I was a little more mentally present. I love the whole concept and the execution was amazing and I definitely want to watch it again. It honestly gave off marvel vibes with a definite action comedy. I loved it. Due to my absence-ness when watching it, I dont remember much about the plot thus I wish to watch it again, but the SFX, shots and the overall feel of the movie was amazing. The fight scenes in particular stood out to me with an overpowering single colour shoot and dynamic camera movements, it really made for an interesting watch!
