One of Kunle Afolayan's best movies

Positives : Cinematography. This movie had some many beautiful shots. I particularly liked the shooting of the chaotic scenes.

Acting. The kids did really well. But I was most impressed with the Preacher's kids performance.

Story: the story was proper Nigerian and you can tell what values or advice the director was trying to promote.

Pacing: Kunle's movies usually suffer from poor pacing but this was an exception.

Negatives: Holes in the plot. For instance, how did the kids figure out the motive of the diamond owners so quickly.

Some cringeworthy moments especially with the Asian man.

In all, I'd say this is one movie I enjoyed.

    such a missed opportunity!

Nollywood seldom comes up with stories about teens and this could have been a great opportunity to accomplish something magnificent....

It was very sad that the film didn't even have a wow factor😔

    DELICIOUS

-It was exciting to see Nodash the DP after a while. He was so intentional with the camera movements, showing us chaos dominating the environment. A nice touch on the lighting, every frame was shot in a meticulous way

-The narrative focusing on teenagers tired of their current state of living was interesting; it was great to see each friend with his/her own personality

    BLAND

-The underlying message on 'blood diamonds' was a trivial one. Why not talk about its positive side, to bring something different to the table

-There was a lot of logic missing, e.g. How did these village kids know what diamonds looked like? As opposed to mistaking them for crystals

-The interaction among the friends was not fluid, every movement was clearly rehearsed and not coming from within. We can't even be harsh on them because the adult actors sadly didn't deliver also

-There was an absence of natural flow in the scenario, e.g. In the opening scenes, you see the teenagers following the trail of a car rather than going to dry the clothes they just washed. This unnecessary curiosity was obviously leading to the discovery of the diamonds😕

The result was that we were just observing the film rather being transported in it

We truly miss the old Kunle Afolayan's days when he was directing exciting stories like 'October 1' or 'Phone Swap'. Now everything just feels average without any ginger....

    Deep story line

Kunle has always been a very good producer/writer, so I wasn't surprised when Ijogbon came out on Netflix.. The story line is deep and all the actors did a wonderful job with bringing each scene to life. Ijogbon tells us a unique story but an obvious and existing issue occuring around us in our present day society.

The Wow factor for me started with the very first scene where you begin to wonder as an audience or viewer on what is happening? Each scene gives you a deep thought on what can go right or wrong with every day decision we make as human beings.

Great kudos to the young stars and the movie veterans who took part in this project.
