Web Series Review: Parnashavrir Shaap ( Bengali Horror Series streaming on Hoichoi)
A Bhoot Chaturdashi 2023 release and a directorial debut by Parmabratha Chattopadhyay, Parnashavrir Shaap is a horror series weaving together the intricate threads of mythology and horror very well , keeping the viewers engaged all throughout.
2 couples are on a holiday in the remote hills when one of the ladies becomes possessed by an evil spirit after touching an idol in the deep jungle. The spirit also threatens to wipe out the very existence of the village they are staying in.
Their only saviour is an old faith healer who might just have what it takes to help them scrape through this situation alive!!
Chiranjeet Chakraborty as the faith healer performs splendidly and gives a restrained performance. Others in the cast Gaurav Chakraborty, Anindita Bose ,Arna Mukhopadhyay among others have done a decent job.
The cinematography is just awesome, the foggy exteriors and the eerie ambience created keeps u hooked right from the word go. There are a lot of jump-care moments especially in the first 4 episodes.
The ending isn't bad either and the series ends on a logical note !! This series spans 7 episodes , with each episode having a runtime of around 20 mins!!
Definitely Bingewatch-worthy for afficianados of the horror genre!!
Going with 3 stars out of 5 for this one.. adios🙂!!

Directed by Parambrata Chatterjee, "Parnoshavarir Shaap" boasts a talented cast including Chiranjit, Arno Mukhopadhyay, Anindita Bose, Gaurav Chakraborty, Suarngana, Roja, etc., delivering a powerful impact. The scenic backdrop of North Bengal is enough to send shivers down your spine. While the genre is currently thriving, most of the content falls short, yet this series stands out due to its superior direction and engaging screenplay. However, character development is nearly nonexistent. It's puzzling why Hoichoi consistently adheres to a 20-minute average running length per episode instead of opting for 40-45 minutes. I'm eagerly anticipating Bhadurimoshai's next adventure. In this Bhoot choturdoshi, 'Parnoshavarir Shaap' is perfect for a binge-watch.

Sometimes, I used to feel a pang of sadness that, as a Bengali, we lacked shows that could match the grandeur and cultural richness I could proudly share with my friends from Pune or other parts of India. But no longer. With Parnashabarir Obhisaap, we've finally entered an era where Bengali storytelling gets the epic stage it deserves.
This series isn't just a show-it's a cinematic celebration of Bengal's literary and cultural wealth. The storytelling is meticulous, weaving mystery, history, and supernatural intrigue in a way that feels both modern and rooted in tradition.
What sets Parnashabarir Obhisaap apart is its unapologetic Bengali essence. From the dialogues dripping with cultural nuance to the nuanced performances by the cast, it feels authentic and resonant. The plot draws you in with its gripping narrative-layered with suspense, emotions, and a touch of the supernatural.
I now proudly share Parnashabarir Obhisaap with my non-Bengali friends, introducing them to the depth and richness of Bengali storytelling. For me, this isn't just a show-it's a reminder of how vibrant and timeless our heritage is. Here's to hoping that this is just the beginning and that more Bengali stories find their way to the spotlight.
I just love it. More of this, please!

This show has to be the most awful show I've watched in my 16 years of life. Awful storyline, the plot is extremely dragged out, awful sequencing of scenes and the background music was the absolute worst. Had high hopes from the star studded cast and director but watched all of it for nothing. After a certain while the show turned out to be so boring that it was painful to continue watching through it 💀. Initially it seemed tempting and I had thought this would be a good bengali horror series for a change but it didn't take much time for the disappointed to kick in. The storyline was a mix-up between a religious cult horror and the usual horror movies. To sum it all up, I'd rather watch bengali soap operas than waste my time on something like this.

Horror series are never good. Apart from two foreign series. Parambratar this series also went to that list. A possibility of season 2 has been kept at the end. It seems better not to worry about it.
Among the good ones, I only saw the cinematography. And of course the BGM. BGM is really good. Nepali song is also very beautiful. Suranjana and Chiranjith's acting is perfect. Nothing else is particularly memorable.
Good start. The thriller was progressing quite smoothly. As the series progresses towards the end, the pace starts to lose.
Parambrata first bengali series this. One cannot expect such a series from Parambrata.
