Dead pan humour love it !

We need season 2 as soon as possible !!!

Absolutely love Chi - the innocence, naivity and the one liners!!! Love how we get snippets of what's going in her brain!

Storyline is a good - nothing something I've seen before.

However the older sister Karen - very annoying, boring, added nothing to the series. Not funny at all. Maybe that's what she was meant to be but it was grating to hear a constant complaints and the dialogue from her was very predictable.

Love the dancing at the end of each episode and the choice of songs in the series. And how's it's set in some random seaside town in England.

Give it a go - to the people here saying it's bad acting - you don't 'get It'

Great comedy - not laugh out loud, but that's my favourite kind

I am honestly a massive fan of absurdist stuff and theatre, and I think anyone leaving a poor review just doesn't get the fact that its absurdity is purposeful.

Then again, absurdity isn't for everyone. But for anyone who enjoys subversive/new comedic stuff that's satisfying but not laugh out loud (which I honestly prefer sometimes), you should definitely check this out.

Great writing from Lucia, and very well acted. Particularly loved Lucas and Karen. Thought Karen very accurately portrayed an uptight but ultimately caring (unwilling) maternal figure, and the absolute shenanigans the characters got up to made every episode unexpected and entertaining.

Things you should have done

AMAZING show!! I binged all 6 episodes in one night and was so disappointed once it had finished! I don't think I've laughed at a sitcom like that in ages!!

Soo nice to see a new sitcom that isn't so cringey and I am completely blown away by how young chi is! So much talent at such a young age and you can definitely tell this is the only beginning for her.

Would definitely recommend watching this I can honestly say you will not be disappointed!

My favourite episode was the nursing home and pancake day ep!!

Can't wait to see what else she has in the making, and I hope before she writes anything new it better be series 2 please !!!!

What a great show! Finally some fresh comedy and talent.

Great show! Watched all six episodes in one night. Need to see more.

Finally some new talent with a fresh take on comedy. The whole family set up is just great! The hint at YouTube with the clips! Wow what a clever idea. The characters are so well thought out and link with great chemistry which pulls through in each episode.

The nursing home episode is my absolute favorite, followed by the final episode which I feel wraps everything up so amazingly.

100% recommend watching this. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This girl definitely has a bright future ahead of her.

Can't wait to see more of this girl!!!!!

Painfully unfunny

It's amazing what clearly passes as humour these days. I made it 20 minutes into the first episode where my husband and I sat in complete silence, when I paused and asked if it would be ok if I turned it off.

"Oh my god yes, this is terrible, I just didn't want to say" was his response.

It's weird, but perhaps not unsurprising that the lead character who is a big thing and often quite funny in her 30 second clips on tiktok, struggles to stretch out paper thin ideas and dead pan delivery into a 30 minute episode format. Perhaps it might've worked if it was done in 10 minute episodes instead.

Anyway, as it goes, this is a show without and redeeming feature. Unfunny, lacking any charm, badly acted. Avoid.

Things you should have done

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find most sitcoms so cringy and feel like majority of them are the same and try way too hard to be funny. Whereas this one I was laughing throughout the whole series, I genuinely cannot believe this was written from someone so young. The entire series was so well put together and every character was fantastic !!!! There is so much talent and can tell this is only the beginning of Lucia's career! I really cant wait to see what other things chi will be writing! I am super excited !! (Also hope there's a series 2 in the making) definitely recommend :))))

Not my cup of tea

Just don't get this show. Non of the characters seem based in reality. I can get the main character being eccentric but for it to work the surrounding cast need to be relatable.

The script seems as if some one has asked ChatGPT to write a wacky comedy and this is what it came up with.

The whole time watching I was getting more and more frustrated at how inept and unbelievable everyone is, no one in the show acts like people do in the real world. Add to that the cliche of couples who are together despite the fact they clearly don't like each other.

I just don't see who this show is aimed at.

Bring back good comedies, because this isn't it

BBC commissioners must be insane to commission a series like this. The low standard of material is evident. They throw lots of comedic talent at it to try and make it work. But the central premise feels like a random person off the street was handed a show and let loose. There's nothing to like about the main characters. The central character Chi thinks she's original, but she's just a mash up of neurosis that we've seen before. She's the teenage daughter from Here We Go. She's the sister from Such Brave Girls. Bland, self-centred, consciously self-conscious. It's so boring. Where's the clever punchlines and the sitcom setups? This series thinks we should all laugh at awkwardness. And that's it. Look at the main characters being awkward and glancing at their phones. Oh, ha ha ha. What happened, BBC? You used to make world class sitcoms. Now, you make this.

Really Enjoyed the show

Just finished all 6 episodes in one mourning (get it) and i really enjoyed. All the characters are really funny it reminds me of Stath Let's Flats/ This Country/ Mandy type humour but very original in itself at the same time. If you liked them you'll definitely enjoy this. Diane Morgan would fit perfectly into this show. Lucia's character is so vile looking and dresses like a sort of slop but have to say was pleasantly surprised when we see her glammed up for Nigella in episode 3. Selin Hizli is hilarious as Auntie Karen i'm pleased to see her back in such a funny role since her cameo in 'MUM' with Lisa Mcgrilis. Big fan of the character Dave too very funny delivery in his lines alongside step brother Lucas. Hope for a series 2 ASAP.

Brilliant!!

Absolutely loved every single episode. So many funny one liners and great characters. Binged watched it all in one day because I loved it so much. Chi is hilarious is this and has created such an amazing show! The actress who played Karen was brilliant - the scenes between Karen and Chi were hilarious. The Nigella scene had me crying with laughter. If you enjoy dark humour you will love this show. Really hope it gets a second season because it deserves it!

Well done to the whole cast and crew for creating such an amazing show! I really wish it had more than 6 episodes because I loved the characters so much.

Lucia Keskin is brilliant

You have to slightly suspend disbelief because the characters are quite exaggerated. By which, I don't mean theatrically over the top. This show is the opposite; it's understated, in the way all the best comedy is. Somehow, Lucia Keskin still writes them in a way that makes you overlook the flaws. She is incredibly talented. For someone so young to write an entire show, act, and sing, is amazing.

Selin Hizly somehow makes an unlikeable woman endearing, which not everyone could have done.

It's not a laugh out loud, canned laughter, type show and that makes it better. If you're looking for obvious, over the top, unoriginal comedy this may not be for you. If you love a more subtle type of comedy, then it's worth watching. I'm on my 3rd watch, now.

Even if the show isn't for you, it's worth checking out some of Lucia's other work. She's an intelligent, deadpan, comedian and an accomplished content creator.

absolute dirge

Where to start?

Lead can't act. Truly truly bad.

Script is appalling, it's staggering this got even looked at by anyone at the Beeb.

It's not funny in the slightest. Anyone finds any of this funny has severe mental health problems.

I wanted to turn it off after 5 minutes because nothing is worse than unfunny comedies, but this takes it to a new level of awful.

I managed to finish the first episode but it was in stony silence.

Please avoid this at all costs, life is too important to be wasted on this dire programme.

I heard about this programme after hearing about a certain actress scathing podcast review of this, so I wanted to see what the fuss was about. And by god she was right. This is awful, one of the worst things I have ever seen on TV..

Great! Very funny.

Love this show! It's very funny but very dry, so if you don't appreciate dry humour you probably won't like it. It reminds me a lot of 'This Country'. I've watched Lucia for years and this did not disappoint! She's very talented and doesn't take her self too seriously which I love.

Currently binge watching the lot! On episode 4 and enjoying every minute :) my fave episode so far was episode 2. So funny.

I actually started watching it because Joanna Page said it was 'boring' and Lucia's reaction made me laugh. Hope they make a season 2 and prove the haters wrong!

Still need 30 characters to submit my review so this sentence is a filler.

Watch this series!! :)

What is wrong with people?

I remember seeing this girl on YouTube doing impressions and to be fair she's got some skill at a few things, however this show is taking all the worst bits of tv comedy and rolling them into the worst thing I've seen for a long time.

The unkempt, dirty slob look does happen so that's one thing but the monotonous voice and stupid delivery of the "script" is just tedious. The trying to be really stupid stuff just to get out of trying to explain this mess of a show was just lazy.

The casting is weird, the mighty boosh style hallucinations were done awfully and there's only laughs here if you're a kid, or just not intelligent. I like enough stupid tv, characters or movies but this is just too much.

It's not hate on her, I don't know her deal but this being made is ridiculous, another social media person with a small following getting tv time on the channel licence money goes to is insanity.

Watched all 6, I'll be honest, 4 things made me laugh, at the show not with it and definitely not her.

Things I Should Have Done

I am just loving this show, it's so funny an great to see such writing talent at a young age. I love this type of comedy so new and refreshing. What a fantastic cast, and I love them all - and I cant wait for a second series. Loving the impersonations especially Nigella, absolutely hilarious. Have seen Chi with her impersonations over the years and she has a real talent for it and is spot on every time, so loved it that she has added that element into the show. I didnt want the series to end we all need more comedy like this in our lives to brighten up our day. So hurry up and get writing we want some more please!!!

if there was a perfectly real reality show about reality

This show has all the elements to be loved by a wide demo, from the old grumpy nana to the most plain and absurd and plain gen z. The storyline follows the aftermath of a 21 years old homestead "female" (not a girl but far from being a strong and independent woman) who becomes an orphan after both her parents passed in a car crash. The essence of the show is parenthood following the current trend on the screens; portraying society raw and no filters.

Chi, the orphan, has never worked before or introduced with what responsibility or oneself is about tries to find her way in a world she doesn't really know or the people inhabiting it.

Each character is a perfect X-ray of ths age groups conforming society and how they interlude ideas collide in a juxtaposition view of life making them more alike than one cold believe.

The neo- nihilistic humor with strokes of absurd improbably-probable situations bring as a result a great 26 mins of laughs and scape of (one's own) reality.

They proved every single episode that big names or a big budget aren't necessary to achieve success, making laugh and crave for the next episode. This is a "most to be seen".

The Jicamito.

Well done Chi

I have seen Chi on socials for many years now and she has a real talent for writing and creativity. Plus she can sing! I'm so happy to see she was given the opportunity to make this series, some reviews seem rather harsh and considering the 'reviewers' review history (click on their name and scroll down) I don't think it's hard to spot the Karens.

Anyway! This is a mix of Stath and This country and of course Chia with a C! Give it a go it's proper mad and light hearted. It's more for the younger gen and those with a sense of humour not just Kevin the Karen who only writes bad reviews for fun and doesn't actually appreciate the effort of writing and creating a TV series.

Easy watching.

Oh ill tell you what's wrong with those "people"

Those so called "people" are either cast and crew or the friends of the aforementioned cast and crew and ffs people, shame on you! You show needs to stand on its own merits, in fact I'm gonna take away my 3 stars and lower it to a one or two for the mere fact that yall SHAMELESSLY seeded the comments and ratings - and lemme tell you that I KNOW this is the case because I'm a regular day one contributor to try and add some sort of guide post for others and I've learned to suss these loaded reviews and reviewers out - from the screennames to the verbiage and more directly, owing to the fact that these came out IMMEDIATELY asa the comments section was opened for input - BOOO!

Subjectively I don't see what's amusing about ineptitudes.

Wow, sooooo bad

I watched this thinking a bit of weird comedy could be fun. I usually enjoy weird comedy. The problem with this is that it's about as funny as breaking your spine. There isn't a single character that you can give two hoots about. I think it would have been kinder to all involved if this tripe hadn't been made. I have no problem with bizarre, surreal comedy, but only if there is some intelligent input in it, this does not have that unfortunately. Hideous characters, hideous writing, unbelievably terrible. I am seriously trying to find something good to say about this, but I really can't. I think this is what happens when the talentless are 'encouraged' to express their creativity without honest feedback. I hope the BBC can get their money back on this trash 🤣

This Country it is not...

Had high hopes for this, but as much as I tried to like it, I had to finally admit it's a bit lame. The one good thing is that it's filmed in Thanet (where I live) so seeing the streets of Margate and Ramsgate, as well as Bugsy's bowling alley on the telly is great. Trouble is, it isn't very funny. Or maybe it is if you're 17, In which case I'm too old, although I loved 'This Country' which does have some similarities, but was very well written and very funny. This just feels like it's showcasing the hopeless depressing reality of Thanet's gormless youth (if you're laughing, you're probably laughing at them, not with them..) All that said, it has got potential, maybe it will get better if it makes it to a second series...
