"Abhilasham is a rare film that explores love emotions in a way that feels authentic. The main characters express their feelings, and those around them also demonstrate their gratitude and love. The writer's portrayal of unrequited love evokes a profound sense of emotion, making it truly mesmerizing and a blessing to experience.
Exceeded expectations. This is one of those good old style movies Malayalam film industry used to have. A feel good family romantic movie starring Tanvi Ram and Saiju Kurup in lead roles. Casting is decent. Kids in the movie were really really good actors. They totally convinced me in the flashback story. Arjun Ashokan changed the whole momentum of the story after his entrance.
Overall worth watching if you are into good old romantic stories. No glitter, over the top scenes, nudity, violence or anything. Just a simple story.
Another great aspect of the movie is the music. Bgm will make you feel the pain.
Camera was brilliant. Many shots had a nice sunny filter. Some awkward angles were there in between. But overall complemented the story well. Editing too deserves a shout out.
Story is simple. Screenplay made it really good to watch. Still some loopholes are there. Also it would have been nice if the story explored some of the lead actress' angle too.
In short, a very good movie. It touches many hidden emotions. Thank you team.

Again, Saiju Kurup didn't dissapoint me this time. This is a decent film, with few moments that make you want to fast-forward through scenes. I went for 6 stars due to its soundtrack and the ending that was 'powerful'.
The movie is set in a famous town in Malappuram and the cameraman has captured some picturesque scenaries of Malappuram. Morevoer it's been a long time since I saw a movie in Malayalam that has a similar theme of this movie.
All the actors have performed well and Saiju is at least putting some good effort in selecting a 'not so bad' script where he can perform very well.
As mentioned in the first paragraph, the ending is the most powerful moment of the movie, leaving us with different thoughts after the movie is finished.

Would've been a top grosser if they had cast someone with a strong fanbase. Saiju Kurup was excellent, though - he delivered a heartfelt performance. I was literally in tears by the end. It's a film that stays with you. Totally worth the 120 minutes of your life. If you're a hopeless romantic, don't miss it.
This movie speaks for all the introverts who don't have the courage to express their feelings, yet can't move on - even when they know the girl is out of reach
I didn't feel any lag, and the background music complemented the mood beautifully. Just know - there's zero heroics here. It's a simple, grounded story about regular people and their everyday love.

Who needs mainstream stars when Shaiju Kurup and team can deliver magic like this?"
Abhilasham is one of those rare films that wraps around your heart and refuses to let go. It's not loud. It's not flashy. But it's honest, tender, and deeply moving. Saiju Kurup delivers a career-best performance-subtle, raw, and impossibly real. And the entire cast follows suit with performances that feel lived-in rather than performed.
The film's simplicity is its strength. It doesn't try to impress you-it just tells a story with such sincerity that you can't help but be drawn in. The emotional weight is carried gently through its visuals, quiet moments, and-my god-the soundtrack. The music doesn't just complement the film. It is the film. It weaves through every emotion, heightens every silence, and makes your heart swell.
This is not just a film. It's a journey of love, longing, and life. A beautifully shot, wonderfully acted ode to understated storytelling. An absolute must-watch. And yes, it's earned a permanent place in my favourites list.
