Leopardi. Il poeta dell'infinito

An otherwise worthier than average TV production spoiled by a kind of fixation on scenes of sexual intercourse, a subject riveted on to the point of grotesque - which is how it usually is for every state TV production in Italy for at least the past 15 years.

This makes the work almost as bad as everything RAI produces and broadcasts (and it's nothing but TV series and TV fiction, by the way), despite some of the ever-present flaws in those products pleasantly missing here (I am thinking of ideological fads the state TV enforces upon all viewers of their series).

The signs of a direction more competent, or less incompetent, than what RAI has made us weary of are still present, and the subject matter in itself is fascinating. This is more something I'd recommend lukewarmly to watch than avoid: avoid everything else by RAI, still.

And of course, if Leopardi is a real interest, this 2-evenings series may be the stepping stone toward reading some real books by, or on, him.
