Le crocodile du Botswanga

Le Crocodile du Botswanga tries to blend political satire with absurd comedy, and while the premise holds promise, the execution is uneven at best. The film follows a young football player who travels to a fictional African dictatorship with his eccentric agent, only to find himself caught in a ridiculous power game.

Thomas Ngijol's performance as the over-the-top dictator is amusing at times, and his chemistry with Fabrice Éboué still works. But overall, the script lacks sharpness and coherence. Much of the humor relies on clichés and overplayed stereotypes, which limits its effectiveness and makes the film feel outdated even on release.

The movie has a few funny scenes and some ironic commentary on colonialism and fame, but it fails to build consistent momentum. By the time the credits roll, it feels like an average comedy that aimed high but settled for low-hanging laughs.

It's a poradically amusing, but not nearly clever or funny enough to stand out in the comedy genre.
