- Conner Reed is a newly transferred student at a California high school. He is referred to a lot by "Isabella's Best Friend" but doesn't want to only be known as that when he is something much more.
- Conner Reed, a newly transferred student from Ferriday, Louisiana, now attends a Californian high school in Calabasas. By students and people on the internet, he is often referred to as "Isabella's Best Friend". While trying to draw, Conner overhears a video playing from the headphones of a girl who sat beside him in his English class. The video is Isabella crying on camera about rumors for her social media platform. Annoyed, he asks her to turn it down. She complies and Conner goes back to drawing. Class ends and Conner is stopped by his English teacher, Ms. Amala. She tells him about the art club that two students at school run and how he should consider joining sometime. Conner being introverted just nods and exits the classroom. While going through the crowded hallways, Conner starts to have a small anxiety attack where everyone around him approaches him and tries to talk about Isabella. Finally escaping, Conner goes down the hallway stairs. He runs into a janitor who's cleaning in front of the exit, so Conner must find another way.
On the way out, he ends up passing the art room and gets spotted by Janessa. The art club is run by Janessa and her friend Kier, and she tries to convince Conner to join. Janessa tries her best to sway him and then Kier joins in on the conversation. She tells Conner how she liked his photography and that ultimately convinces Conner to walk inside. After looking around and getting a feeling of the place, he ends up expressing his feelings to his new friends. Janessa tries comforting him, and a student who attended art club already -- Jacob, ends up wanting to learn how to draw just like Conner, showing Conner that he means a lot to him.
