Like action, have some time to kill?
It's a basic one time watch cheapo action film. Great for background noise while doing something else. Don't expect anything more.
Don't expect good acting, directing, or story. Or any sensible events.
Every few minutes I was shaking my head at how ridiculous something was. The Characters do the most stupid things. Some apparently managed to steal 20 million dollars, or run a gang of thieves, or survive in the alaskan wilderness, despite being so ridiculously dumb. It's completely unbelievable. And there is a lot of stuff just shoehorned into the movie to further the plot that otherwise doesn't make any sense.
But it has some bang bang, and some running, and some betrayal, and some fisticuffs. And you get to see some snow.

An engaging DTV production
Icefall (2025) is fairly engaging as a low-budget DTV production. It starts off strong with a kinetic opening sequence, but slows and becomes more focused on social relevance, before ramping up for a decent climax and an affecting denouement. The action, chase, and pyrotechnics are economical, but well done. The cast is relatively small, but credible in their roles. Danny Huston plays the smarmy villain he's played in other productions. Joel Kinnaman, Cara Jade Myers, and the others deliver credible performances. Shot in Bulgaria, but set in some frozen wasteland that looks like Alaska, but has Rock County police cars, much of the film looks like it was shot on a sound stage. Nobody's breath is frozen by the cold. The plot reversals seem a bit exaggerated and a plot device involving animal traps is overused. Efforts to add dimension to the characters don't seem integral to the plot. Despite its faults and limitations, it is an enjoyable film.
Get on it
Big fan of Joel K since robocop remake and other films of his but I for one being indigenous Australian and watching this movie was pretty good. I really think his acting has come a long way over the years and teaming up with the game wardens chemistry was pretty damn good. 👍🏽 Deadly movie if it resembled cliffhanger haha but overall it was not a bad film, another one to add to the collection of weekend movies to watch again for sure! For all you haters out there with no sense about cultural beliefs and values go take a jump into and icefall 😂
Not too shabby...
Sure, without ever having heard about the 2025 thriller "Ice Fall", as I stumbled upon it, I opted to watch it solely because it was a movie that I hadn't already seen. And I have to say that I found the movie's cover/poster interesting enough to make me stop and take notice.
The storyline in the movie was pretty straightforward, and writers Steve Isles and George Mahaffey actually put together a script and narrative that proved entertaining and enjoyable enough.
Of the entire cast ensemble in the movie, I was only familiar with Joel Kinnaman, Graham Greene and Danny Huston. The acting performances in the movie were good.
The movie proved to be entertaining and enjoyable, though it wasn't a thriller that revolutionized the thriller genre. And it is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.
My rating of director Stefan Ruzowitzky's 2025 movie "Ice Fall" lands on a five out of ten stars.
