I've been watching a lot of stand-up comedies lately and this one from Ron White is one of the better shows I saw. I like the sarcasm and the irony, that's just the best humor there is. And Ron White knows perfectly how to bring it. His heavy smoker/drinker voice adds to the ambiance, the way he brings his jokes and puns are hilarious. It sounds all very raw and that's what makes it better than so much other stand-up comedians. I will definitely look out for more of his shows.

Thus two-hour special was filmed live at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas.
Ron White is a strange guy. He has been a comic for about thirty years, but really came to prominence as part of the Redneck Comedy movement. Arguably, he was the most successful of the bunch. (Although Larry the Cable Guy has done exceptionally well for such a one-note comic.) What bothers me about White is that he is clearly brilliant with his observations and occasional plays on words. But he has an addiction to raunchy material. And that is too bad, because even though "blue humor" is funny, it really limits the reputation of a comic. George Carlin, the greatest modern comic, had a filthy mouth, but he was never raunchy.

There's no excuse for a comedian using the same jokes on 2 different DVD's or consecutive tv specials. It frequently destroys careers and may explain why no one has seen Ron in the last seven years. I honestly wish he would have done all old material because his new stuff wasn't funny. Still better than the commie crap that passes for comedy today.
