Initially Karen Young was cast in the role of The Professor but had to drop out. Subsequently Betsy Brandt was hired for the role.
Viewer #1 role turned out to be pretty difficult to cast since the filming date for the role fell into the time period when New York City was experiencing flu epidemic which forced many actors who cast in the role to drop out because of it.
