Thanks Slash! Masterpiece
Thanks so much Slash for bringing this to the screen. Great cast, great swirling plot, superb blend of contemporary issues and man's inhumanity to man!
Love it when you suss some of the plot lines and get blindsided by others. Wife and I were so absorbed by the plot that we watched the lot over 2 nights. In fact it so drew us in that we almost didn't notice the soundtrack. Must have blended in so well. Will go back and listen out for it.
I'm sure some will criticise elements of the show but we loved the clever devices used.
There were elements of Silent Witness and Vera which is meant as praise indeed. If the next series builds on this wonderful beginning we will be in Paradise City!

I need to find a killer, but let's open another bottle
I liked it until the final episode where the policewoman (who until then seemed like a fine detective) turns into a complete idiot. She first totally screws up the arrest of a not so kosher colleague. Then she needs to be looking for someone she thinks is a killer but instead goes to the shrink involved to drink her personal' sorrows away. Very unprofessional. She must also know that more people are at risk of being targeted by the killer, but she doesn't really seem to care. I'm sure that the actress must have been very disappointed when she read the last episode of the script but by then it was probably too late to get out of it.
The Crow Girl. Not your average police procedural.
The Crow Girl evidence great storytelling with a powerful cast. The lead actress Eve Myles ( my favorite Welsh actress. I will watch anything she appears in). The Crow Girl had me enthralled from the very beginning of episode one. It's methodical and sneaks upon you. It's a thinking person series. Now watching episode two. This series has a range of interesting storylines, murder, incest, and trauma i. E., mental illness. I'm excited to see the conclusion and the outcome of these three story lines and their interconnections.
Watching and enjoying. No disappointment here.

A bit slow but...
I truly do not want to give anything away here. Others have criticised The Crow Girl for having too many plot lines that don't all get wrapped up... but that is what season 2 is for? Weird thing to pick apart really, since this is not a standalone movie.
The first 2-3 episodes are a quite slow and challenging to watch, but it's all worth it for the plot twist towards the end. Usually I see things coming from a mile away but not this one. It's extraordinarily well done whilst at the same time you'll be kicking yourself for not figuring it out in the first place.
In other news: Eve Myles is bloody brilliant in this. Great actor.

Oppressive
I don't really understand why people have to say it was predictable. Yes, of course some things are predictable; so much has been made over time. Try coming up with something new. I liked the lead actress, but I found her husband an annoying freeloader. Her team was okay, and I found the story very oppressive. But from my perspective, it was pretty good. I watched it in one sitting. And I was sad that it was over, I would have liked to see another season, with a new case.
(Can someone explain to me why I have to write a bunch of sentences when someone else can do it in 10? I'm sure you can't email me, but try it. Pip2020 Via DuckDuckGo email address.
