A Christian film disguised as a propaganda film.

The concept of the film is good, that is to expose tyranny. But their continued pounding on the message that Christianity is the only way to salvation was too much.

People find things or others to believe in. People look for heros.

And whether someone believes communism works for them or Christianity is beyond the point, but this film is about Christianity being the only path to salvation.

I thought I was going to watch a documentary film or somewhat educational film on tyranny, fascism, dictatorship and how it all comes to be.

Instead this movie was suggesting that Christianity is the only way.

They discuss brainwashing in the movie, but the film maker doesn't see how their religion is simply another form of brainwashing.

I gave up 3/4 through the film.

I don't need more education on brainwashing if people don't see religion does the same.

    Thought-provoking but somewhat biased

This is a very thought-provoking documentary that chronicles the rise of Soviet-Style 'Communism' in the United States.

I don't entirely share the orthodox religious beliefs of some of the commentators - or their faith in the 'bible'. Nor do I share the rose-tinted view of 'capitalism' that the documentary (implicitly) promotes. But their fears of Communism, it seems to me, are absolutely well-founded.

Brief note on terminology: Words are important - so I want to clarify ... When I use the term 'Communism' here I am referring to a centrally-planned economy - or 'State Socialism'. I have no problem with 'Voluntary Socialism' - at all. (IMO this is what true religion aims for - i.e. The 'Golden Rule'.)

Anyway ... This phenomenon - the spread of 'Communism' - is not confined to the US. Similar things are happening throughout Europe.

You can observe it in the use of extremely heavy propaganda on state-owned media, the drive towards a centrally-planned economy, and the indoctrination of children in public schools.

Solid, but with a Bit of Propaganda

So, I actually liked the whole thing, and pretty well agreed w/ most of it, but also recognized that it went from historical fact to telling people what was wrong with things from their point of view.

Again, not that I don't agree with what they said, but this is supposed to be a documentary. I love God (Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, too). I'm a strong Christian, believe in God's Word, and am a practicing Apologist learning from the likes of Cliff Knecktle, Lee Strobel, J. Warmer Wallace, Justin Peters, David & Mike McDonald, Institute for Creation Research, Answers In Genesis, and several others. I LOVE this subject, and am also a strong proponent for freedom.

However, I felt the history of the horrors of Socialism/Communism is important. It's OK to tell people about your opinions - no issue w/ that - but the focus should be on the history and horrors, not on opinions.

Unlike another reviewer, I love that they told people about Jesus...that's the MOST vital thing. Beyond my minor complaint, I still really like this film and think everyone should watch it.
