One of my new favorite shows
10/10. Honestly believe the ONLY reason this show is getting hate and bad reviews is because of the upset fans from OBX, motorheads, and Julie and the phantoms. The show is honestly so good and the music is amazing. So far most of the bad reviews I have seen online somehow always bring up OBX or just other shows that were recently cancelled. I wish this show got the reviews and audience it deserves. Anyways if you are someone who likes music then this show is for you.
Maybe its not for YOU!
I've never felt compelled to write a review but the bad reviews feel so bitter i felt i should add my 2 cents.
For the people saying its corny and kids don't talk like this are wrong. These are young adults that do and say stupid things, its not far from reality, maybe slightly exaggerated for comedy relief. The Runarounds feels like Dazed an Confused or Varsity Blues. You can't go into this show thinking its going to be a groundbreaking plot, honestly im not sure why anyone would expect that from the trailer or cover. Yea there were parts where i wss like yea that wouldn't happen, but im not extremely critical of something like this. In the end this series just feels good, it takes you back to a time of hope and being young and creative.
The bad reviews must be from decrepit, cynical, lonely souls that are so far from their adolescence that they dont remember what youth and love feels like. Open your mind and heart and dont expect anything, the original music alone should be enough to put a smile on your face.

This show makes me wish I were younger.
Even though I went to high school in the 80's, this show reminds me of the feelings I had in high school and after graduation. From feeling invisible to the person you were crushing on, to feeling like you had no control in your future because your parents were still telling you what to do, to those days we were so excited for the party that night and smoking copious quantities of weed. It's a cute show, and the music is good.
Watch it!!
I'm a 42 yr old woman but I was hooked on the 1st episode. Totally expected a ton of cringe but it's not nearly as cheesy as I thought. I love the story and I love the music. It's refreshing yet retro, wholesome but not corny. It's a fun watch and a nice escape. It's a real band and they make awesome music <3.
Fun, almost nostalgic, totally bingeable
While this shoe is about high school grads and a rock band, I feel as though as a 41 year old woman, I still fall into a target audience for this one. Now, I say that as a fan of most teenager shows (throughout my life starting with Saved by the Bell and BH90210 as a young one, to Dawson creek and all those heyday of the CW to Outer Banks, Summer I turned Pretty etc recently). But this is fun! It's from the same creator as Outer Banks and has a similar vibe (summer adventure!) without teens being totally out of their depths and in a pirate booty hunt. The cast is good looking without being plucked straight from a magazine. (Sophia is the creators daughter and the hot girl who is also smart forced to grow up too fast and someone kind as well. You know the one).
One other review said something about it being set in 2000. It's not. It's current day just with a revival of good fun rock. Later in the season they mention the return of the band and it totally works.
Do the kids find themselves in situations normal 18 year olds do? Nope. Does every one of them have a huge thing weighing on them. Yep. Is it totally realistic. No. But it is kinda more so than some thanks to how social media actually works. (Minus ya know everyone in the recently formed friend group being superior at just the right thing)
Anyway, like many "teen" shows recently the adults are well cast as well and the perfect amount involved in storylines.
I'm excited for another season and had a ton of fun watching this one. And the songs are actually really fun!

- TriviaThe Runarounds is a real band that first appeared in Season 3, Episode 7 of Outer Banks, which led to the development of the series. The cast members are real-life musicians who had already formed a band and were cast specifically for their musical talent.
