Suhasini, Abbas, Bhama, and Abhinay Vaddi in Ramanujan (2014)

Trivia

Ramanujan

Edit
While the cast and crew were filming in mathematician Ramanujan's house to maintain the authentic look & feel of the film, they noticed that various students still flock his house to receive blessings from his statue before writing their maths exams, even today.
The British actors in the movie knew there Tamil so fluently that they surprisingly got it bang on in their very first take, however while filming the English scenes, the actors had to do a couple of re-takes to get their lines right.
While filming in the fields of Kumbakonam, each time the crew prepared for the shoot and the cast rehearsed their lines, they would have clear skies, but the moment director Gnana Rajasekaran said "action", it would start raining heavily. This happened five times in a row! Finally, the cast and crew managed to get the scene shot perfectly after a long long wait!
Director Gnana Rajasekaran was contemplating casting Tamil actors R. Madhavan and Prasanna for the role of Ramanujan, however Rajasekaran chose Telugu actor Abhinay Vaddi instead, since he felt that his piercing eyes and nose resembled those of the actual mathematician.
Ramanujan is the first film to have been given permission to be filmed in the famous Sarangapani temple in Kumbakonam. No other film, Tamil or any other language, has been given this privilege before.
