When they realize their friend has been transported into a dangerous video game, three friends follow him into the game. Once there, they will have to battle dangerous creatures and a warlord who will stop at nothing to keep them in the game and make them part of his army…
Originally released in the Us to coincide with the release of Jumanji: The Next Level and debuting here in the UK to coincide with the films home entertainment debut, Jurassic Island (aka The Final Level: Escaping Rancala) this latest film from fine folks at The Asylum is yet another in their long-line of mockbusters. A genre which, despite their success with their own IPs like Sharknado, the company keep coming back to time after time.

“Infection Is Coming…”
Here in the UK, when it comes to zombie and infection films, we are mostly treated to comedic entries such as Shaun of the Dead, Doghouse and Cockneys vs Zombies. Don’t get me wrong, the films mentioned have their own merits, but am I the only one who is sick of films of the like going in that direction? Of course, films like 28 Days Later and Doomsday brought something new to the table and replaced cheap gags with genuine tension and atmosphere. It’s been a long time since I have seen a great example of the genre like that here in good old, bloody Blighty. When I first caught wind of the latest offering of its kind...

From horror in the America’s to FrightFest’s foray into spatial horror with Luke Hyams’ moorish horror X Moor and Adam Spinks’ Amazonian adventure Extinction/The Expedition. From hunting a fabled beast on the moors to being the hunted in the jungle, these two British films took the FrightFest audience from open to dense terrain for two different kinds of hunts.
In a three part interview feature we spoke with X Moor’s lead actors Mark Bonnar, Melia Kreiling and Nick Blood as well as director Luke Hyams, along with the writer and star of Extinction/The Expedition Ben Loyd-Holmes on being the hunter versus the hunted in beastial horror.
Concluding the feature Ben Loyd-Holmes reflected on creating a thrill ride for audiences that would offer an escape from reality, and inspire audience’s to re-think next year’s holiday plans.
Why a creative career? Was there that one inspirational moment?...

Yet again the cheap, occasionally effective but utterly done to death format of the found footage film finds its way onto our screens once more. Only this time, there’s dinosaurs. It’s The T-Rex Project, or Mesozoic Activity, if you will.
We’re expected to believe we’re being presented with footage from a documentary team recording some natural historians on locations in the South American rainforest, seeking out new species. Brash cameraman James (Daniel Caren) accompanies sceptical presenter Michelle (Sarah Mac) on The Expedition. The aloof but esteemed Professor Howson (Ben Loyd-Holmes, who also co-writes with director Adam Spinks) is their guide and a couple of other scientists and explorer/adventurer types flesh out the cast.

We’re back with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes VOD release information for Armistice, multiple teaser trailers, a Q&A with Matt Thompson from Bloodline, and a preview of Dept. of Monsterology:
Dept. of Monsterology: ”Officially, it’s the Department of Cryptozoology, Mythological Studies, Parapsychology and Fortean Phenomena. But to the rest of the students and staff at the Dunsany College, baffled by the cloak of secrecy that surrounds the Department and its affairs, it has another, more dismissive, name: The Department of Monsterology. Funded by the mysterious Hampton Foundation, the Dept. operates several field teams that roam the globe on extended research expeditions.
Their brief: to investigate the dark and unexplored corners of our world – the places we’ve forgotten, lost or believe to be mythical. And to study those things that may still be lurking there.
