Tucci in Italy

Nicely shot and Stanley Tucci oozes charisma and cool as always (even when he's clearly trying very hard to converse in Italian with the locals).

But why so much offal? Why? Why is he fed offal wherever he goes? Are the local fixers reps for Big Offal? Is Stanley particularly fond of the stuff? I'm finding it very hard to find the food appetising when half of it is offal. I get that he's exploring local, rustic food but I have the palate of a 6-year old and cannot abide watching people eat a plate of tripe.

I feel like there wasn't nearly as much offal in his previous documentary, Searching for Italy.

Just put this on the big screen and enjoy it, with or without the sound. I go to a café to work almost every day. The first thing I do is turn on the big screen TV above the bar (I don't have a TV at home and watch everything on my laptop). The images bring life into the mostly empty café as most people sit outside on the terrace. Along with the Chinese owner who barely speaks Spanish, my favorite programs are about cooking. I only wish we could watch Tucci in Italy.

As I began watching the first episode in Tuscany as well as writing this review, I was thinking that I'd like to see more food preparation in this series than he did before. Voilá, we are witness to a wonderful rabbit cooked with Italian lardo, a delicacy I've never tried. I've never seen a rabbit deboned with such precision, didn't think it was possible, but it was one heck of a rabbit.

I was all in, sold on the series in the first half of E01.

I just wish I could watch this at my neighborhood bistro.

While I wish there was some degree of variation in between the best caviar, best beef and best greens and then everything else is tripe, offal vegan I'm on episode 4 and cannot understand Italian well enough to hear the details of the heartbreaking story of the Italian gay couple and their adoption or most of the Italians.

Subtitles are not included? For an American tv show about Italy?

It's a very beautiful country so I'm always going to be happy watching anything about Italy, so I enjoyed watching. But I'm actually interested in the people and the culture and learning it from their own perspective so without subtitles I was extremely frustrated. Yes. I'm learning Italian.

Amazing job done by Stanley Tucci and the crew organising this.

I hate to see the most important part of the Italian heritage being forgotten, and this documentary showed me that it's not like this.

To all the non-Italian that say that this is not representative of "real-Italian cosine", I'm sorry but you are wrong, Italy is much more than pizza, pasta and gelato.

I also loved the fact that I learned so much about my own coluture, found new ideas for trips and new recipes to try.

Beautiful people and beautiful food, I can only wait for a second season. I'll wait for you in Valtellina!

Yea..we've seen this over and over ! Star goes to quaint favourite restaurants where no average person eats; raves about the paltry samples of cuisine but hypocriticaly repeats the same every place he goes. All the restaurants are near the best in Italy and all award winning chefs. What really irks is Tucci's mugging for the camera. At the experimental restaurant/farm near Milan he declared the food amazing! And marvelled at the environmental friendly preparation but never carries it over to other places asking if they prepare their food in this 'amazing' manner. And stop making us believe you're sampling food spontaneously! These visits are meticulously planned out in advance to serve what he likes.
