    understanding queer exile

This documentary is well done, with respect and empathy for the queer people interviewed both in Uganda and Switzerland. It is also an update on the persecutions of sexual minorities in Uganda and a some sort of sequel to the documentary Call me Kuchu (2012). While the situation was already a nightmare for LGBTQ people in Uganda in Call me Kuchu, Out of Uganda shows that witch hunt is getting worse at the state and religious levels, with new laws enforcing death penalty and calling for the murder of queer people.

A few pictures are very graphic in order to document the extreme violence unleashed against sexual minorities.

The isolation, distress and resilience of these people is very gripping. The documentary does a good job at explaining the reasons for exile and migration for sexual minorities.
