Extremely sexy, but don't underestimate this. Funny, heartwarming and beautifully shot.

First of all, wow! The men in this are very beautiful. The series uses this to full potential and there are some seriously sexy scenes. It beautifully produced and shot, with plenty of glorious scenes of the Camargue in the South of France. But this is far far from what this series is about. It is actually very funny, sweet and heartwarming; with family, relationships and how to survive in a very rural economy at its heart. Feminism and sexual equality play a huge part and it really asks questions about what people want from life and what mutual respect is.

Definitely give it a go, because it is fun and sexy, but also intelligent and makes you think.

What a nice surprise!

Set in beautiful Camargue, France, the series develops through funny and sexy incidents; something light, entertaining but thought-provoking at the same time, which I didn't really expected before watching. Moving at times, you can enjoy, apart from the beauty of the cast, splendid landscapes and a very good soundtrack: I really liked "Una furtiva lagrima" at the end of the last episode. You could also find interesting and pleasant the participation of famous actresses such as Carole Bouquet and timeless, amazing Rossi De Palma and Amanda Lear. You should definitely give it a go! You will not regret it!

At last

What I mean by the title is that at last there's a comedy drama that has convincing drama as well as comedic aspects that had me laughing out loud at times. I wish the series had had more than six episodes! I was enjoying myself.

The four lads are all hunks and believable as gigolos. They each had distinct personalities and attributes. A nice touch in the series was that their characters actually developed over the episodes. I'm dying to find out if young Zak accepted his final client. I also want to find out how the machinations of wicked Olga Sakiris impinge on the family business and on the relationships between the protagonists. I'm sure we'll find out as it looks certain a second season is on the way.

One duff note is the role played by Charly. I don't think a seventeen year old would have the sophistication to run a business or deal with its admin. That's minor though.

I just hope season two isn't too far away.

Brilliant series!

This is a brilliant series! It's simply genius and the actors are excellent and very beautiful! There are many twists to the story which are thought provoking. I often found myself laughing then crying, then laughing again. It's beautifully written and directed. It also makes you dream about the Camargue, as you can often see its fabulous landscape. I also love how the show conveys a sense of equality between men and women. It is very sexy and features some very saucy and hot scenes, but it's never vulgar. Watch this series... I'm sure most viewers will love it! An additional note: the British voice of Ben/Lupin is provided by an actor named Chris Anderson.

A second series has to happen!

Blown away by this gem of a show I stumbled upon today. The cinematography is exquisite. The locations used for filming are absolutely beautiful. The whole thing just flowed effortlessly from one scene to another. Such an unique idea for a TV show. The actors playing the escorts are fabulous. The supporting cast are fantastic. It is a very sexy drama, beautifully done, with some very funny moments thrown in. The writing is superb, you really warm to these characters. I found myself completely absorbed in the story, couldn't wait for the next episode. One of the best series I have ever watched.

What a hoot!

First of all the environs are fabulous. At first glance it could be Australia or the USA but is actually set in France so the whole feel of the programme is different and all the better for it. I'm 2 episodes in and have already laughed a lot out loud but it also does pathos with one of the characters having a hard time with his life. Gorgeous actors also helps and again as it's not Hollywood, the faces of the actors take you to France. It's themes are not original but it is far more complex than the seminal movie shot in Sheffield. It will to interesting to see where this goes storywise and hopefully some of the female characters will have their stories expanded.

Review by Season (2/2)

SEASON 1 (3/5)

Escort Boys delivers on the sexiness, and the show finds the perfect amount between giving hot bodies in action without being vulgar or too forced. The actors are all game, and they are some very beautiful ones here.

Escort Boys wants to be more than a sexploitation show, and brings a lot of conversation about the view of sex in our society, women's emancipation, and the objectification of men. They have some good things to say, but they failed to bring the conversation naturally, and most of the time, it mostly sounds more like lessons than honest conversation.

Despite representing itself as a pro-feminist show, most of the time, the men act like they know better than the women, helping them. They are escort boys, paid to do what the customer wants, but they are still trying to impose their view on them.

Because of that, the main character, Ben, is especially frustrating to follow. He makes a lot of egoistic decisions, even when the show tries to portray them as altruistic.

The emotional moments mostly sound fake. They usually come without previous development, so it's hard not to think about the writers just saying, "Okay, and now we've got our emotional moments". That said, the male characters are done right, they have endearing problems, and despite their flaws, they got us curious about how their situation will develop. It's especially the case for Ludo, who, I think, is the most interesting character.

There are some surprising cameos of famous women from French culture, one of the highlights is Zahia, who, knowing her story, is a perfect fit in this show, making her short participation very interesting.

SEASON 2 (2/5)

After a first episode that just wanted to go big, this second season quickly removes all the fun we should expect from a show about escort boys trying to save a honey farm, even the nudity feels less cheeky and more controlled. It quickly becomes evident that the show wants to be taken seriously... but fails.

During the first half, the show uses the female clients to talk about a wide variety of themes, like sexuality despite a handicap, the line between kink and abuse, ... the issue here is that they have a lot of clients in one episode, so all these important topics just have a few minutes to be talked about and then get all mixed up together.

The second half focuses more on the main characters, and it's frustrating what they are trying to do here. Each of their story is overly dramatic. Nobody acts like a normal human being; they just react to things because they need to bring drama. At one point, one of the main characters fights another one because he is not supportive enough with his friends, but most of them, including the one complaining, have friendly moments with the other characters... the writers just want them to fight and to be dramatic.

Also, not one of the big reveals at the previous season finale was developed; everything was so quickly forgotten, even the hero's ex-wife, who was so important last season.

The finale feels rushed and cliché. This season is a big disappointment.

A piece of art - extremely sexy but anything else than mainstream

I rarely watch a series twice but couln't resist watching it once again. Can't wait to see the second season appear.

The series is a piece of art in my opinion. Apart from the very sexy and great as well as partially famous characters, the storyline is quite profound. There's so much love to the detail from skillful lighting to framing of the scenes with artistic positioning of the characters, props and playing with the focus of the camera up to matching music. Great scenery and lovely integration of the local nature of the Camargue. Maybe not everyone appreaciates all these details but it's outstanding from many other series in my opinion.

I also loved small appearances such as Amanda Lear in one scene as well as a transgender actor in another scene (don't want to spoil too much by adding the name at this point). They even managed to hint towards what's happening by the lighting, focus and dialogue before the scene revealed what's going on. It's nice and so important in current times to not just let someone play a transgender person but they also casted some beautiful actor who represents a whole community even if it only was for one small scene.

We get it, writers! You don't like the Me too movement

Given people's reactions towards the Gerard Depardieu case in France, it shouldn't be surprising that in a comedy (written mostly by men), women can only be bitter, angry/entitled, angry/feminist or angelical, like the little sister.

I've only watched the first two episodes and I have enjoyed them, but the casual misoginy of the script throws me off. In the first episode you have a mom telling her daughter that by being independent and sure of herself, she scares men off, that she needs to tone it down, leave the extrems (of course by getting laid).

The second episode shows the angry, annoying wife wanting to hook up with someone other than her husband and an empowered woman who doesn't shut up, doesn't know what she wants and only finds pleasure when she's tricked into thinking she decided how the man had to take her.

Did we really need those characterizations? I don't think they add anything to the plot, but at least they let me see where the creator stands on this subject matter.

Stereotypes Still Persist

While the show can be entertaining, the underlying attitudes towards women feel outdated and unnecessarily stereotyped. With a writing team and director mostly composed of men, it's disappointing to see female characters limited to tropes that feel more like caricatures than real people. There's the 'overbearing wife,' the 'angry feminist,' or the 'perfect little sister' - all of whom seem designed to fit a narrow and often unflattering view of women.

From the start, we're met with a scene where a mother advises her daughter to tone down her independence if she wants to attract men as if self-confidence is a flaw she needs to fix. Then, in the second episode, we get the classic portrayal of the 'nagging wife' unhappy in her marriage and a supposedly 'empowered' character who's written as confused and inconsistent, seemingly unable to enjoy herself without manipulation.

These portrayals don't add much depth to the storyline or offer fresh perspectives. Instead, they serve as a reminder that, in this show, women are boxed into outdated stereotypes rather than allowed to be complex, relatable individuals. It's frustrating that, with men at the creative helm, the series still leans on these clichéd characterizations.

Racking my brain who's voice!

Took me 2 episodes to suss who's voice was dubbed over Lupin/Ben's voice for the English version.....It's Will Mellor!... Perfect comedy timing that Mr mellor is so fantastic at! I can't believe I put off watching this great giggle... Loads of flesh and sexyness and comedy to boot... It's like a more grown up on steroids version of full monty at first.. love all the twists and plot lines! Great scenery too. I like how each character has their own story to tell. You're in for a non misogynistic viewing. Great turn the tables kinda show. All the male and female cast are beautiful in their own rights and certainly not a one size fits all show.

Lots of warm emotions

There are a wide range of heartfelt emotions in this season 1 series. Ben's father has died, and his mother earlier, so he returns to the family farm, which raises honey from their bees. Left is his sister, Charly, who is 17 and needs to show a stable family life to remain there. The farm is on the verge of total default, with no money, and the bank ready to possess everything. Ben has good friends Ludo, Zak and Mathias. Mathias has a way with women and earns good money. Since honey cannot pay enough of the bills, they decide to try an escort service, and Charly acts as the business manager. It is done with a lot of humor and also a learning curve for them, as they are beholden to the desires of the woman who hire them. One of the subplots is that Ben is still madly in love with Romane, who has since married Chef Pierre Morand, and thinks he can still win her back. And how Ludo, being married to Nora, got an entire change in his marriage through his work. Nora became almost glowing. This series should elicit a lot of smiles from the viewer.

More of this!

We need more shows like this, hot guys, funny, with a little drama, yes please! Did I mention the hot guys, oh my I love them, European hot men, Matias my favorite my type.

I was in prime and notice this show, man that is what we (the audience-me) need in our daily life. Shows often, focus on drama or bad stuff, what we need is shows that take us away from our daily life, routine, and make us happy. I will see it slowly, because we have about 6 episodes.

Like the fact that this is made in France, is so different from the US, they show more and do more. They are not afraid of showing the human body, show comedy that contain drama. Watch it for what it is. Bravo!
