In 1934 Shanghai, Ji Jiaqi, who returned from studying abroad, fell in love with Mei Xiushan, the "school beauty queen" at first sight. Yersun, the president of a certain country's insurance company, was unwilling to have his monopoly status challenged and ordered bad guys to smash the "Xinxin" company established by Ji's father. Ji's father himself survived. Detective Li Jinkui colluded with foreigners and used kidnapping to force Mei Xiushan to leave her fiancé Tao Zhengde and marry Ji Jiaqi. On their wedding night, Mei was unwilling to give in and wanted to commit suicide. Ji Fang found out the whole story. He had fallen into Li Jinkui's serial scheme. Li Jinkui transferred the shares donated by the Ji family to Yersun, giving him the capital to control "Xinxin". Ji's father was shocked and angry when he learned that his son had transferred his shares. He announced at a press conference that he would sever all ties with his son.
