Jenny Howell is a tough girl with an even tougher life. After her father, an LAPD police officer, is killed in the line of duty, she is left with an alcoholic and abusive mother who blames her for her shortcomings. Reaching her limit of vulnerability and feeling all alone in the world, she befriends Lisa Dawson, a quiet kid her own age who has recently lost her loving mother and now lives an equally dark home life with her sexually abusive father. Two years later, both now 17, Jenny and Lisa are the best of friends, still there for each other through thick and thin, helping to overcome insurmountable obstacles, one after the other. After Jenny's mother gives away her trust fund money, the girls, along with their two delinquent boyfriends, will stop at nothing to get it back.
